moving

Oh, good golly sakes.  What do you say about moving?  Although we didn't go far, I felt like July was practically ruined by packing everything up.  Luckily Lisa P. helped the children and I take a day off toward the end to go to Denver.  We hit the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the zoo, and the best splash pad we've ever seen.  On the way home my little ones were so hungry we just had to stop by the Chick-Fil-A in Thorton, that just happened to have a cow wandering around.  I've got true fans. I can't talk about packing without mentioning our friend, Marcee H.  Since I've never moved since having children, she was my right hand lady.  A pro that told me what to do and helped me do it.  Natalie got to know her so well, she was the only person our baby liked as much as us.  That should tell you something!  When Dan and I did the math we figured we should pay her $300.  She wouldn't take a penny.  And when I bought ...

we love summer

My first time blogging from the new house!  We've got a lot to catch up on. late June/early July We were blessed to have Dan's older sister, Carla, and her family visit us.  My children were so excited to see cousins without having to drive 8 hours!  They got to see the unfinished new house, eat birthday cake (for Jordan), and watch the movie Brave in our awesome basement set up.  My kids, especially Danny, kept telling them what was going to happen next, so they got a whole lot of spoilers.  Luckily we could all laugh about it. Baby turned 3 months old and is still an active little one.  Not so easy to get a picture of anymore.  (: Enjoying a nice summer evening on our swing set.  The new HOA doesn't allow metal swing sets so we gave it away.  The children were getting too big for it anyway, but I almost cried seeing it go.  I have so many happy memories of cooking dinner or doing dishes and looking out the window...

A Decade of Us

It's hard to believe it has been a whole ten years since Dan & I got married.  So much has changed yet I'm still utterly in love with this wonderful man.  I was a nerd and made him a slide show with pictures of us in iPhoto set to Glee's "The Only Exception."  I figured only a couple people would actually want to watch it on Facebook, so I didn't post it there, but Dan did this wonderful status update back on our anniversary (a couple weeks ago): Ten years ago today I married the girl I met over cookies, too this day she still brings sweetness into my life. To celebrate I've created a top ten list of the reasons I love you  Sarah Smith 10) One of the first things I noticed about you was your radiant smile. You developed a special smile reserved just for me. You've still got it and you have shared it with our children, I see it every d ay. 9) You have always been the easiest and most enjoyable person to talk to that I know.  We share similar dream...

K's 6th

Once again we headed to Lakeside Amusement Park for Kaelah's birthday with our tickets from the summer reading program.  This year we were joined by the wonderful S. family and had a great time together. Grandma made a Barbie cake, as Kaelah requested and we had princess party ware to liven the house up. Kaelah really liked all her presents, including the clip on earrings she wanted b/c she decided at the last minute not to get her ears pierced and surprise presents like nail polish.  We love our intelligent, beautiful, athletic, artistic, girly girl!  Happy 6th Birthday, Kaelah! Kaelah's birthday interview What is your name?  Mr. Butt... Ok. Kaelah. How old are you?  5.  I'm 6. Making progress

What a treat to come back from out of town to see a lot of progress made on our house.  It's amazing what one month can do in a building project once things really get going! Framing finished. Siding on.  Patio poured. Back fence up. Dry wall up. Cabinets in. A big trip from our current home to the thrift store. Landscaping in the park area before our house in. Waiting for the landscaper we hired to do the back yard after closing. Backsplash, counters, double ovens & microwave in.  (They had to rip the counters out b/c a worker used them as a work bench & scratched them all up!)  They still have a lot to do before we move in, but we are keeping our fingers crossed and packing up our current home!  (It is early in the morning & Michelle and I are the only ones awake.  She is sitting on my lap, snuggling.  I asked her how she felt about moving b/c it seems to be bothering her & the dog the mo...

N's 1st Road Trip

When we first heard about Dan's family reunion, we were bummed our house would be closing the same week so we couldn't go.  I supposed you could say, "luckily for us" the house was delayed an entire month so we could attend after all.  Seeing family for the first time in way too long was wonderful.  So many smiles and the best, longest water gun fight ever!  Natalie got to meet wonderful aunts and uncles, cousins, and Great Grandma for the first time.  This was also my first time seeing my new nephews.  Dan's parents now have 23 grandchildren and another due to arrive about the time they get home from their mission in January.   3 brothers with 3 babies born in March, April, & May. The last time Dan's parents went on a mission, these 5 were born in 9 months. Could Kaelah be any happier?  These 3 were born in 2 months. I was so happy we got to attend my best friend's baby's blessing that Sunday.  You coul...
