Welcome to our World

We tried to keep our four day weekend pretty calm this year.  Got things done like a check up, went thrifting, and Michelle got to spend her REI gift card she got at Christmas on trekking poles for this summer.  We celebrated Valentine's Day and baked a King Cake for Mardi Gras.  Plenty of Winter Olympics were watched.  Natalie got a softball hitting lesson in and we got Menchie's and played tennis just for fun.  Danny still had basketball and a team dinner and then managed the next week to catch both Covid and Flu B at the same time.  I'm pretty sure he shared with me so I not only took a day off work feeling like crud but also because I sprained my ankle right after bringing him home from urgent care.   The SCLA sophomores are planning prom and it's so fun to see Michelle planning something that Kate and Danny can go to.  Here is a screen grab from a reel their class did in preparation to announce this year's prom theme. The day finally came for the Lunar New Year Festival that SCLA had been preparing for months on end.  Michelle was at the school from 8:30am to 7:00pm.  Official numbers say over 2,000 people attended this year, the most they have had since the pandemic.  I am so proud of Michelle and her friend Alex getting in front of a full gym and welcoming everyone to the event.  My dad, Hubby, Natalie, and a friend from her softball team, AG, all watched the performances in the gym.  Impressive and loud, it was a much different feeling heading into the auditorium to watch SC and NHS's orchestras perform.  There were also lots of booths to do things like brush painting and henna tattoos (thanks to Sam and Bess for doing ours!), plus food to try in the cafeteria and a drone show with art work from the contest to finish off the day.  Everything seemed to go very well and I honestly thought Michelle would sleep for 24 hours straight but lo and behold, she was off in ...

  We are so grateful we get to celebrate another trip around the sun for Hubby.  He means the world to us and Michelle found him a new favorite restaurant for his birthday.  With her work preparing for the Lunar New Year Festival, she was told several times to try out the new Dim Sum & Dumplings place in town and it did not disappoint!  We cannot recommend this place enough and were actually kind of sad we had a different restaurant planned for later in the week with friends.  But the company was great for both the family and friends outing so we cannot complain! On MLK Day we celebrated Kate's half birthday as well,  I took Natalie to the store to buy supplies for the strawberry Kate requested and Natalie made her "half" of a cake but stacking half circle layers.  I can tell she did a great job not only by the compliments she received but also by the fact that cake was gone fast!
