The weather cooperated for us to have our neighborhood Easter egg hunt this year! The C. family also held an Easter/birthday party that weekend which was a blast with a bouncy castle, another egg hunt, and the opportunity to meet a lot of the families with boys on D's baseball team. We also made sure to dye eggs and eat chocolate bunnies along with having our Palm Sunday and Easter FHEs and the children singing in the Easter program at church. I made sure to buy the girls matching dresses because at the rate my oldest is growing, she may not be able to wear kids clothes next Easter!
This Earth Day was a busy one. In the morning I was the presidency member to congratulate Lucy at her baptism, D participated in a trash clean up with Scouts, and we hosted a Recycle Regatta at our home. (D's pack let me borrow two rain gutters so our GS troop and the Activity Day girls could build boats and race them from materials that would usually go in the trash or recycling.) After all that we biked over to a fishing hole to try our luck at catching a fish before dinner. What a way to celebrate our Mother Earth -- especially since we didn't catch any fish to boot. P.S. Hubby pulled D's tooth with a plier -- quite easy and comical.

Although all this was fun, I couldn't help but wonder if I was doing enough to teach my children the true meaning of Easter? Are my children Christians in their hearts? We had our Palm Sunday and Easter FHEs, but is it enough? Then I remember that I had to rely on my parents' testimony of the Savior for years. It really didn't become a part of my inner core until I pleaded to have my own testimony of Jesus Christ as I studied the New Testament in seminary my sophomore year of high school. They too will have to build brick by brick and hopefully someday it will become a part of them too. I know our Redeemer was the Only Begotten Son of God. That He came to Earth to fulfill His Divine Role in the Plan of Salvation. He provided the perfect example for us, suffered and died for us, and conquered sin and death. Because of Him we will someday be resurrected as He was and stand before Him as our Judge. It will only be through His grace we can once again love with our Father in Heaven. Without Him, we are helpless. With Him, we can have a perfect brightness of hope.
