Spring spring, random spring

 Playing "police" -- inspired by the movie Zootopia
 N learned how to ride on a scooter!
 Poor dog got stung twice by a wasp.  You can see here her leg swelled to almost twice the size of the other.  After a few doses of Benadryl, as instructed by the vet, her limp disappeared.  Eventually she was all better.  Poor girl.

 M earned her black belt in Judo Math for subtraction...
 And enjoys the smells of blossoms...
M now rides a 20" bike!  She is so happy to be able to go very fast now.  It literally took half the amount of time to get to school after switching to the new bike.
 There weren't a whole lot of nice weather days in May, but when there was, we made sure to take advantage of it!  This day we met friends at the park, where there happened to be a Shih Tzu puppy ALL the children at the park fell in love with.
 N is looking forward to having K home more often during the summer.  She is always thrilled to see her big sister and K is still convinced that N was the cutest baby in the whole world.

 Baking day with Grandma while we were still putting the first floor of the house back together
 Learning new tricks on the swings.  N graduated to big girl status -- bye bye baby swing!
N also learned how to "ride" her strider bike.  Well, she learned how to walk with it under her.  Goal for the summer -- actually riding.  (;
 We bought Daddy an early Father's Day present -- a popcorn machine.  It is a great source of entertainment, along with popcorn.

 Double Darth Vader at bedtime!  (One of the few times D has let me take a picture of him this spring.)
 Good weather sisterly giggles
I had a wonderful time attending Rebecca's bridal shower.  It was so fun to spend time with friends from our old ward.  They say kids grow up so fast and this was a terrific reminder of that for me!
 Dancing with Daddy at Rebecca's wedding reception
Mother's Day mayhem.

I love my Mother's Day crafts, especially when they are given with love and enthusiasm!
 Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner on Mother's Day.  I'm so glad they live in the same town as we do.  So are their grandchildren.
 M got her GS cookie sale loot!  She couldn't have been happier.
 Friends invited us to play a life size Candyland game with them and it was a blast.  I was very impressed with how well done it was.
 M's best friend's little brother had his first play date at our house.  He loved our rabbit and guinea pigs and playing with N.  S told his mom he's going to marry N someday.
 We loved going to the Cinco de Mayo activity our friend Belinda invited us to.  K was too cool to dress up in the photo booth.  (;
 I love my calling as a member of the ward primary presidency, but boy, was it fun to help my husband substitute M's class one Sunday this spring.
 Sisterly matching on Sundays.  I get a kick out of seeing dresses I bought for K and M being worn by M and N.
 Yard work!  Once we had the house put back together and organized, it was time to attack the garden, plant new plants on the side yards, prune the roses, etc.  Can I just say, I am so happy to only have to weed and mow for a while?  These two little ones were such great helpers/supervisors while K and D chose to run off and play with neighbors instead.  They are growing up so fast.  I feel like I am already on the threshold of having teenagers with those two.  (;

Homecoming 2025

The tail end of summer has been so much fun.  The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to.  First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday.  Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time.  I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...

45

I feel spoiled. My parents and our whole family around a dinner table was perfection. Hubby provided roses & a grilled steak, roasted potatoes, and fresh salad dinner complete with chocolate cake (decorated by Michelle).  My mom and dad bought me sweet and thoughtful gifts (including a mug Natalie had painted when my mom took her to Crackpots this summer) and even stayed to watch K Pop Demon Hunters in the basement. We thought it would be hilarious to watch them watch something so different from their favorite shows. They did not disappoint. It was a joyful evening that made me feel much better about turning 45 than I felt earlier in the day.  Below you’ll find what I had written before we celebrated.  Photo credit goes to Kate! 10 Years Ago I filled out interview questions for my 35th birthday and 5 years ago I did the same, adding 5 more questions.  I really don't think I should add 5 more every year because this is probably already too much information for an...

Adventures Begin

Michelle had been saving her money for years. She didn’t know exactly what for, but it turns out she used that money to travel with a group from her high school to Asia!  When people asked me at the end of the school year what I was excited for this summer, the first thing I would think of is Michelle’s trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam!  We loved getting texts and photos almost everyday and were able to FaceTime her a couple times.  She had quite the range of experiences from museums and treasures such as Angkor War to cooking classes and time on the water to learning how to fold flowers for offerings at famous Buddhas, and even hanging out with rats that sniff out landmines to be properly disposed of.  We are absolutely thrilled for her! While Michelle was in Asia, Hubby and Kate worked and Kate hung out with friends doing things like paddle boarding (it is great to hear her work stories!), Natalie and I watched the Women’s College World Series when we weren’...
