It's a great time

Hubby had the privilege of taking these two cuties to the grand opening of our new mall in town.  They had a blast while my oldest two opted to stay home and have a neighbor friend over for an impromptu play date.  Fun was had by all but D was pretty jealous his little sisters did have so much fun.  I reminded him he had fun to so all was well in the world again.
Twice a month K attends Activity Days at church now that she had her last birthday.  She loves it but one day I forgot she was supposed to go and the poor dear didn't get to eat her supper before she went.  So, every time she has activity days my mom or both my parents come over to help with homework while I make dinner earlier than normal.  That way K is well fed before leaving at 6pm (the usual time we begin eating) and her homework is complete before coming home so close to bed time.  I'm so glad my parents moved to our city to be around us.  They just make life better.

My mom came over and watched the Christmas Devotional with us.  I love the way it puts you in a great mood and the right frame of reference for this wonderful time of year.

My favorite picture from the Star Wars app.  I just had to document that selfie fun we all participated in.

The guinea pigs and the rabbit and Meigo are all alive and well.  The children enjoyed picking out Christmas presents for them at PetSmart.  M & N were awesome when we went to the DIY dog wash and ran errands.  Miss N is quite the stubborn little one (I mean that in the best way possible) so I don't care about things like what she wears in public too much.  This day she chose to her penguin pajamas and really wanted her red dress-up Minnie Mouse shoes but could only find one of them.  You wouldn't believe all the positive attention she got at Hobby Lobby & Play it Again Sports and the groomers!  I guess middle aged women really go for the nostalgia of days gone by when their children were picking out their own crazy outfits too.  Glad my family could be of service.  lol.

Meigo saying, "Why are you happy about what you just did to me?"

Our ward Christmas party was so nice.  The Night Before Christmas theme was so well done and my kids loved wearing their Christmas jammies to it.  Our former neighbor, Darrell, came with us and it was so fun to be around our good friend again.  Here's a picture of the children singing the two songs they learned this year:  Christmas Bells and When Joseph went to Bethlehem.  M was so excited and nervous she confessed to me that as she fell asleep at night she went over the songs in her head so she would be ready to perform.  She did great, that's for sure!

I also wanted to mention D earned a perfect attendance for his first trimester of 1st grade from his school.  That's a new one for our family.  Definitely has never happened before.  I guess he has a knack for getting sick only on weekends!  I'm not including his certificate on here due to all the personal information on it, but I sure am proud of my favorite son!

Homecoming 2025

The tail end of summer has been so much fun.  The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to.  First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday.  Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time.  I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...

45

I feel spoiled. My parents and our whole family around a dinner table was perfection. Hubby provided roses & a grilled steak, roasted potatoes, and fresh salad dinner complete with chocolate cake (decorated by Michelle).  My mom and dad bought me sweet and thoughtful gifts (including a mug Natalie had painted when my mom took her to Crackpots this summer) and even stayed to watch K Pop Demon Hunters in the basement. We thought it would be hilarious to watch them watch something so different from their favorite shows. They did not disappoint. It was a joyful evening that made me feel much better about turning 45 than I felt earlier in the day.  Below you’ll find what I had written before we celebrated.  Photo credit goes to Kate! 10 Years Ago I filled out interview questions for my 35th birthday and 5 years ago I did the same, adding 5 more questions.  I really don't think I should add 5 more every year because this is probably already too much information for an...

Adventures Begin

Michelle had been saving her money for years. She didn’t know exactly what for, but it turns out she used that money to travel with a group from her high school to Asia!  When people asked me at the end of the school year what I was excited for this summer, the first thing I would think of is Michelle’s trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam!  We loved getting texts and photos almost everyday and were able to FaceTime her a couple times.  She had quite the range of experiences from museums and treasures such as Angkor War to cooking classes and time on the water to learning how to fold flowers for offerings at famous Buddhas, and even hanging out with rats that sniff out landmines to be properly disposed of.  We are absolutely thrilled for her! While Michelle was in Asia, Hubby and Kate worked and Kate hung out with friends doing things like paddle boarding (it is great to hear her work stories!), Natalie and I watched the Women’s College World Series when we weren’...
