Lights, music, dance!

A parade, lots of lights in the park, and fireworks -- our city knows how to throw a party!  N fell asleep on the way there and missed almost everything, but I though it was cute how her older siblings still stuck by her even though they knew she wasn't awake.  That is one loved little girl.  It was also this night that my husband said something that make me soooo happy and relieved.  At one point D decided to go off and do something and M said, "Don't worry, I'll follow him!" and chased after him.  I mentioned I wondered if her needs were being met and her voice being heard as such a thoughtful middle child?  Hubby, being the 4th of 8, knows all about being a middle child.  He said no, she has a voice.  She will do fine.  To me, the only child, I practically burst with joy.  It's true, though.  Between her Waldorf inspired preschool last year and trying new things this year, and simply being aware of the traps a middle child can ...

Hanukkah & snow

Our Hanukkah FHE is probably our favorite of the year with Latkes, the Hora, and playing dreidel.  I believe in miracles! The next morning we woke up to a snow day.  The kids were so excited to stay home from school.  You can get quite a work out shoveling that much!  We were so excited to have two full weeks off of school and go to see cousins for the first week of break!

It's a great time

Hubby had the privilege of taking these two cuties to the grand opening of our new mall in town.  They had a blast while my oldest two opted to stay home and have a neighbor friend over for an impromptu play date.  Fun was had by all but D was pretty jealous his little sisters did have so much fun.  I reminded him he had fun to so all was well in the world again. Twice a month K attends Activity Days at church now that she had her last birthday.  She loves it but one day I forgot she was supposed to go and the poor dear didn't get to eat her supper before she went.  So, every time she has activity days my mom or both my parents come over to help with homework while I make dinner earlier than normal.  That way K is well fed before leaving at 6pm (the usual time we begin eating) and her homework is complete before coming home so close to bed time.  I'm so glad my parents moved to our city to be around us.  They just make life better. ...

Thanksgiving

My oldest 3 loved having an entire week off of school and our littlest loved having them around.  They really really really did not want to go back to school when the time came.  My husband came up with the great idea to have off school from Thanksgiving until New Year's and add a week and a half to the beginning and end of the school year instead.  I think he's a genius!  lots of play time at home  and sledding near by  another date with Daddy to a  GS activity -- this time putting together hygiene kits to be delivered worldwide at the Children's Hospital.  She earning her Global Awareness badge, a fun patch for the event, and a hygiene patch for collecting donations from her troop before hand.  What a win for her Daisy vest! We also enjoyed celebrating Blanche's wedding reception.  M cried at the idea of leaving before getting her own special photo with the bride! We were able to set up lots of play dates that we just d...

November 2015

Hubby and N and I got to watch K, D, and M participate in their school's annual Turkey Trot.  D gave it his all and was able to tie K at 2 miles.  M was nervous and excited for her first time and we were proud she kept going and ran over a mile.  As the day went on K got a nasty surprise of the weather suddenly turning from sunny to cloudy and then she got hailed on.  But she kept going!  Way to go, kiddos!  Said kiddos also reminded me to harvest the garden.  Found lots of carrots but only one beat in that garden box! Here's a thank you from M and our local public library to all of you willing to serve or have served in the military! And we finally got some snow in November! The kids were so excited to shovel, play, and eat the snow.  More power to them.  D only took a couple months to earn his 100 mile club t-shirt this year.  He made his goal of running the 25 required to get the shirt... and is now taking a...
