Stardate 2026.011

Blame the title on me watching 2009’s  Star Trek  on New Year’s Eve before it left Netflix.  Don’t worry, that won’t be the only movie I mention.   Why was watching a movie alone on New Year’s Eve?  Well, we had all planned on flying to visit Hubby’s family after Christmas but Danny’s coach was still pretty disappointed for us taking Danny out of town at Thanksgiving and Danny was afraid of further punishment. (Sad part was he sprained his ankle again so it’s not like he got a lot of minutes his first game back anyway.) Kate wanted a nice, relaxing break after our busy trip to NYC during Thanksgiving so we decided I would stay home with Kate and Danny for a few days after dropping Hubby and Michelle and Natalie off at the airport. I felt like the Grinch because after getting home I started doing everything I wanted done before I left town, including taking down all the Christmas decorations like a machine. It made Danny laugh and made Kate question my mental hea...

Christmas Time & End of 2025

Michelle decided to make her friends and family Christmas cookies again this year.  When I saw her shopping list for the Dollar Store and grocery store I was wondering just how many sugar, gingerbread, and snickerdoodle cookies she was planning to make!  I’ll give you a hint: she watched The Sound of Music , White Christmas , and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas while she was baking. Michelle estimates she made over 300 (almost 29 dozen) cookies!!!  We literally set up a folding table in the den and opened windows to be her cooling station. It was a PROJECT and I hope she is proud of herself!  And I can attest all 3 kinds were delicious! The day after Michelle’s big baking day, I got to hitch a ride with LA's parents to watch Danny play basketball AND got to watch with his wonderful birth mom and her husband. It was so great to have them there and I am so happy for her and how hard she has worked/is working to meet her goals. I have always loved her and always will....

Christmas Card ‘25 🎄

Happy Holidays! Dan is approaching year 20 of being an aerospace engineer. He makes our world a better place simply by being the wonderful man that he is day in and day out. His new hobby is keeping the hot tub in our remodeled backyard usable. Sarah is still a part time special ed para at the local middle school, loves watching her children do what they like to do and keeping the house running. She is still guilty of planning the next vacation before the last one is even over.  Kate is a senior in high school and is already admitted to more than one school she would enjoy going to but hasn't made any commitments yet.  She knows she wants to stay here in Colorado. Danny is a junior and just made the varsity basketball team. He and Dan take turns driving the manual Honda Civic, which they are both better at driving than I am. Michelle is a sophomore and has a schedule that makes me tired just thinking about it. 4 orchestras, tons of honors classes, SCLA Ambassador, st...

Snowy Home

Not only did we get to enjoy a beautiful fall, but during the week after Thanksgiving we received a beautiful snow storm that made our home feel truly like Christmas.  The sunrises have been amazing too! I got to be the one to go to Danny’s first official basketball game of the season in Berthoud.  The games were running late so I got to watch the girls varsity game too.  I was surprised to realize that I knew most of the girls thanks to my 3 high schoolers and working at Altona.  When I told Danny that after the game he said he was surprised I didn’t know all of them.  lol  It was a good game but my son wasn’t allowed to play until the second half because I took him to NYC over Thanksgiving Break.  Oh, well.  Creek dominated and final score ended up being 85-55.  Great way to start the season on the road.  And on the road they kept going with heading to Pueblo for a tournament!  They played 3 games there with 3 wins: 62-38, 67-42 a...
