We followed up our museum visit with Vietnamese food nearby and the restaurant even had doggie bags for Hubby to take the beef bone home to Maisie for us.
Between where we parked and our lunch was a really neat motorcycle shop and now my husband is seriously considering taking motorcycle lessons. I thought about doing the same and buying myself a Vespa (there was a mint green one that was so pretty) but between knowing I only really need a car to haul groceries and softball players and watching the first episode of Long Way Home on Apple TV I'm thinking neither one of us so even consider it. lol.
With our free time Danny, Michelle, and Natalie worked on a project inspired by a TikTok video Danny had seen. It was great to see them working together on something just for fun. Reminded me of our Covid days in the best way possible. I am so impressed with what their teamwork produced as well!
Mother's Day weekend also brought us steak and potatoes, watching Crazy Stupid Love and The Gorge (both so good), yard work and Michelle driving for over an hour (a new record, I think). She does much better if she has a destination in mind and did not appreciate me taking a picture of Natalie and her seatbelts while she was backing out of the garage. My defense was that we were still in the driveway. Lol
Monday brought Michelle the last school concert of her freshman year. We were surprised and delighted that she got one of two awards (the Director’s Award) for concert orchestra and lettered. It’s nice to see her hard work appreciated. The concerts are sounding better and better throughout the year and I am curious to see how next year goes with a new director.

On Tuesday I pulled Natalie out of school about 15 minutes early get to her softball double header in FC. Such a great city! I got to go to Daiso for the first time during her warmups and the weather was amazing for both games. Natalie was afraid to wear her lime green pants for the first time because she was worried about sliding but she slid whenever it was called for. The first game was such a good matchup and they tied 5-5. They played the same team again and the score was almost the same: 4-6. They finished as the last bit of sunlight almost disappeared and then it was time for fast food and the hour drive home.
Wednesday we got to celebrate Ms T graduating with her masters degree in special education and Mr G getting a job 15 minutes from his house. This will cut his commute down to one third of what it is now so we are happy for him. It was great to try out the local food hall with them and have Hubby and our three girls join us (Danny wasn’t feel up to coming). I am lucky to work with such an amazing group of people!
Thursday Hubby had to come to my rescue on my way home from dropping Danny off at the airport for his Texas basketball tournament. I was one mile away from the nearest Costco on the way home to put gas in the car when the car stopped completely. On the way there, while Danny was driving, the fuel light had come on and said there were 50 miles to empty. I incorrectly thought that would be enough to get me to whatever gas station I wanted and ended up waiting by the side of the road half way home for Hubby to bring me a gallon of gas so that I could make it to the gas station. He was so nice about it and is my hero. Oh, how I wanted to go to Dallas with Danny and I did not take running out of gas as a good omen. Turns out his first day of play he got elbowed in the eye and the next day he literally played with one eye shut. Yes, his coach tried to tell he couldn't play like that but Danny just got on the court anyway. Then, due to a huge storm coming through, all the flights out of the airport they had tickets at were canceled to come home. Our club alone had 6 teams of boys and their coaches to try to get home so when Danny's coaches offered to drive the boys home, Hubby and I gave our permission. They arrived at the airport to return their car rental at about 4am and my husband was once again my hero for going to pick Danny up. I am so grateful that they made it home safe and seriously those 2 coaches need a prize for driving that far through the night to ensure our boys got home in time to rest and study for finals week. While Danny was in Texas for the first time, he got to try things out like Whataburger and stop at a Buc-ee's on the drive home and brought us home a box of fudge. It is so good to have him home and I must admit that while he was away I would snuggle up in his t-shirt quilt to watch movies (the OG Frankenstein from 1931 & Netflix's Trap) and wore his Universal Studios windbreaker around. I miss him so much when he is gone and worry about him being gone without me but I trust his coaches and know that it is my job to work my way out of a job with all my children. I loved having him give me a hug and tell me about all his adventures. So bittersweet.
Don't worry, us girls and Hubby still had fun while Danny was away. Michelle had friends over on Friday after school and attended her tennis banquet on Saturday after shopping with us at Target. She was great at helping Natalie find a new swimsuit that Natalie is very excited about. Here's a photo Natalie took of Rebecca and me at her graduation party at R park. It was such a lovely couple hours for us there and then Natalie suggested we check out a couple open houses on our way home “like we used to do.”
The next day Natalie has a softball tournament and Michelle had her final LYSO concert of the season. She and Hubby left at 7am and didn’t get home until 5pm due to playing three games and having a weather delay! Meanwhile, I went to help in Primary and got to take Michelle to her final orchestra performance of her freshman year, this time with the LYSO. The entire concert was so enjoyable. I almost cried when I heard how much M's director has contributed to the organization for the last 18 years and how he spoke of how he had meant to retire from this position before but hen Covid happened and he felt he had to make sure the orchestra was in a really good place before he placed it along. Michelle is sad she only got to play with this conductor for one semester but is glad she had the opportunity at all.
