Fall Fun 🍂

Michelle and I got home from Kansas with one day off school to spare, which she spent at the orthodontist, doing homework, and hanging out with her friends.  Another mom grabbed this photo for us since these girls go to two different high schools so it’s kind of a special occasion when they are all together now.  This week was also Michelle’s first high school orchestra concert titled “Into the Stars” where her group played: Meteor Shower, Quasar, and JupiterThe black and white photo is from a dad who was taking photos for the music wing’s Instagram account and he is doing such a great job with that account.

My guys provided some basketball and softball games to watch as well!  I was shocked when Danny said he felt up to playing less than a week after getting his wisdom teeth pulled.  And he showed hustle!  I could tell when he was sitting on the bench during the second game that he was in a lot of pain but he got out and played again the next day.  A couple days later I got to see the love of my life playing softball for the first time in way too long.  He is so consistent and got a workout running those bases.

Piper got to come play for a little while after she went to the groomer until it was time to pick up Natalie from softball practice.  Piper and Maisie had so much fun running around together on a perfect fall day.

And how much fun does this trip to Terror in the Corn look like?  I love these pictures so much.

These ones were fun to get from S's mom after her birthday party.  From what Natalie told me there was a lot of things to do and fun to be had with pizza and Nothin' Bundt cupcakes as a bonus.

Don't worry, we aren't done with sports yet!  I was less concerned about Danny playing basketball the next week due to his wisdom teeth removal but then he caught a cough and I literally went and bought him cough drops at a gas station in between games so that he could try to play in the second game.  Luckily but the time it was Hubby's turn to take him to his league games Danny was feeling better on both fronts and I hear he played well but almost fouled out too... which means he must be feeling better.  His coach seemed grateful that Dad had brought him because boys from the other team were threatening to jump Danny in the parking lot so it's good the 6'4" parent went with him instead of me.

The time finally arrived to watch some volleyball!  Hubby, Kate, Natalie and I went to the CU v BYU game.  Notice we are all wearing CU colors?  Honestly, that is just what I was wearing for the day and I was wearing Hubby's BYU hat too, but Natalie took it off me when she saw her dad had the camera out.  I was disowned by my daughters but Hubby understood my need to cheer for both teams.  lol.  I had a lot of fun and made sure not to rub in the fact that the visiting team won.

And as a grand finale, I will add this photo I stole from Facebook to mark the fact that all our girls are doing great in school right now.  Natalie's transition to middle school has been more amazing than we could have imagined and she even got to attend the 1st Quarter 4.0 celebration -- she really went for the donut -- but I have her certificate proudly hanging on the refrigerator as well. And if the high school graded officially in quarters instead of semesters, Michelle could have gotten a certificate too!

P.S.  A donut and a certificate wasn't the only honor bestowed upon Natalie that day.  She was selected to go to Denver and participate in the Youth Summit presented by Special Olympics.  Members of our school's Unified Club were chosen and taken down by Ms T (aka one of the teachers I work for) to have different activities and break out groups.  And btw, she had Unified Club after school and this was all before the before mentioned volleyball game.  What a day!

Homecoming 2025

The tail end of summer has been so much fun.  The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to.  First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday.  Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time.  I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...

45

I feel spoiled. My parents and our whole family around a dinner table was perfection. Hubby provided roses & a grilled steak, roasted potatoes, and fresh salad dinner complete with chocolate cake (decorated by Michelle).  My mom and dad bought me sweet and thoughtful gifts (including a mug Natalie had painted when my mom took her to Crackpots this summer) and even stayed to watch K Pop Demon Hunters in the basement. We thought it would be hilarious to watch them watch something so different from their favorite shows. They did not disappoint. It was a joyful evening that made me feel much better about turning 45 than I felt earlier in the day.  Below you’ll find what I had written before we celebrated.  Photo credit goes to Kate! 10 Years Ago I filled out interview questions for my 35th birthday and 5 years ago I did the same, adding 5 more questions.  I really don't think I should add 5 more every year because this is probably already too much information for an...

Adventures Begin

Michelle had been saving her money for years. She didn’t know exactly what for, but it turns out she used that money to travel with a group from her high school to Asia!  When people asked me at the end of the school year what I was excited for this summer, the first thing I would think of is Michelle’s trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam!  We loved getting texts and photos almost everyday and were able to FaceTime her a couple times.  She had quite the range of experiences from museums and treasures such as Angkor War to cooking classes and time on the water to learning how to fold flowers for offerings at famous Buddhas, and even hanging out with rats that sniff out landmines to be properly disposed of.  We are absolutely thrilled for her! While Michelle was in Asia, Hubby and Kate worked and Kate hung out with friends doing things like paddle boarding (it is great to hear her work stories!), Natalie and I watched the Women’s College World Series when we weren’...
