Oh my goodness, it was so fun to be with these cute girls at the Era Tour movie. A’s mom bought tickets in the very back row and only one other person was at the 2:40showing with us so when the song “22” came on and the girls started dancing, we let them dance away. It was so much fun to feel like we had gotten great seats at a concert for a steal of a deal and close to home.
Saturday was Hubby’s turn to go to softball while I stayed home with the rest of the kids to give high schoolers rides to or from friend’s houses and to help Michelle bury Marshmallow. Yes, plans changed because it turns out the cemetery won’t let you bury pets in your estate until your property is completely paid off. So we let Michelle decide between having the rabbit cremated or to bury Marshmallow in the flower bed she had taught him to stay in when he was out of his hutch. Michelle opted for the flower bed, which I thought was a wonderful choice. We dug feet and feet deep and I even got a blister from all that shoveling but I am grateful our pet is taken care of. We also ordered this lovely little marker to place in the flower bed from Etsy and found two clumps of tulip bulbs that we separated and placed in a couple circles around him. I hope they bloom around Easter since that is the last time we took photos with him and to remind us that Jesus has our back.
This weekend was the end of season tournament and our team won both of their games on Saturday. Hubby did a great job of keeping A’s parents and I updated through texts as the games went on. I got to know what positions these two girls were playing, who was on deck, when they stole bases and when they got hit by a pitch. I told Hubby he was like our own personal Game Changer app. It was great and we were so glad that they could play again the next day. And since Natalie and I were tired, she and Hubby and I spent the evening watching Avatar: The Way of Water… for over three hours. Woah. They did a great job but I think I’ll just put a mental check mark next to that movie and move on.
So I got to see Natalie’s last day of playing softball for the season while Hubby blew out the rental sprinkler system, took Danny to the rec center, and made sure Michelle was taken care of in between her Haunting of Hill House performances. Their first game seemed to go by so fast. Natalie walked the first time at bat, struck out the second time, and played center field. They got five runs in but the other team got 13 and then they had to win to be able to keep playing. Natalie was in good spirits after their loss and glad I brought snacks but refused to take a selfie with me in our matching jerseys. lol.
The next game began much like the first but this time ended in a win. My favorite moment is when Natalie had an awesome catch at shortstop. I would pay money to have a video of that! Then it was time for a rematch with the first team they played as the sun began to set. The other team was full of energy and ready to win the tournament. We tried but even the girls told me afterwards they didn’t mind losing to such a good team. And our team came home with 2nd place hardware! I am so grateful for all Natalie has learned with these wonderful coaches this fall and it was so fun to celebrate that learning with medals and a team trophy. Natalie will have a break in November and December and then this team will start up again after MLK Day. I’m excited to see what they do in the spring!
With making it to the championship game, Natalie and I didn’t get home until Hubby and Kate and some of her friends had already left to go a haunted house called 13th Floor. They had tickets for 8:00 and were so scared and ran so fast that they were back out by 8:16pm. It took 45 minutes to drive down there. Lol. So Hubby took them all out to In N Out burger and it was the first time eating there for at least one of the girls. It was fun to hear them talk about the different areas the haunted house had set up. Hubby said he thought it was well done and a step up from Terror in the Corn. Maybe next time they will be brave enough to not run.
The weather has been absolutely perfect and this sunset plus the fall foliage was a stunner. Can you spot my youngest playing with our next door neighbor? Being on the hammock after school with Michelle is a pretty neat thing too.
I got to watch Michelle a second time as Eleanor in The Haunting of Hill House, this time joined by my parents while Hubby took care of the other three children. I was glad my mom was recovering from her shoulder surgery enough to be there the entire time. It was fun to hear her commentary and my dad really got into watching too. It might be more fun to watch the play when you haven’t read the book because they didn’t know how it would end.
For her last performance, Hubby, Danny, Natalie and I took Michelle to a nearby restaurant and got to eat outdoors in lovely weather before she needed to be back. We also had her fellow cast member, B, join us. (Kate didn’t think she could sit still that long so hung out with the dog at home while we were gone.) For some reason the cast was very giggly for the first scene and I could tell Michelle was pinching her arm after that in order to keep from laughing. I took it as a good sign that this was meant to be the last performance. I asked her how she felt about it being over and she said she really liked the cast and getting to know them but relieved it was over because it isn’t the most fun play to perform and she has soooo many lines. But she loved being there and was glad for the opportunity. It is yet to be determined as to whether she wants to try out for the Christmas show or not.
I just wanted to include this selfie my good friend, B, took with me at our RS luncheon after Church. She and three of her children gave the Sacrament talks because her oldest came home from his mission in California. They did such a wonderful job and I was glad Hubby could hold down the fort while I went. I know lots of neat people around here and it was nice to be with them again.
