Last Week of School

After missing three days of school due to illness Natalie was happy to have a few more days with her teacher and classmates.  On Monday she came home from school saying she really wanted to carpool with A after missing softball the week before.  How could I say no? On Tuesday I was lucky enough to have the day off work so I could attend field day.  So much fun to see them laugh. If you don't fall down during the three legged race, is it really a three legged race?  Such a great class of kids with their wonderful teacher. Since our middle school has a habit of celebrating their 8th graders on Wednesday it is expected your 8th grader doesn't show up to school on Thursday.  They would literally be doing nothing.  So, Danny got to be done with school a full day earlier than all his sisters.  So my last day working with my 8th graders (and my little buddy that's moving out of state) was my only son's last day at the middle school as well.  I must admit...

Mother’s Day and More

A couple hours after Natalie’s softball game it began to hail.  It was quite impressive, to say the least, and difficult to go to sleep after all the excitement. The next day there were piles of ice, blossoms, leaves, and petals laying around. I was grateful I had pulled weeds so I could enjoy my yard before the storm and destruction. Everyone at school seemed a bit tired after the night before. And for days it was gloomy and raining. It was no surprise when softball and baseball was canceled. Well, except for our head baseball coach. One of the moms shared the following meme on the parent group text and let’s just say it was perfect.  I wondered if the weather would clear up and I was pleasantly surprised by some sun and a slight breeze to watch Danny play baseball in.  Saturday morning  found him and I driving an hour north to play in a double header. Our guys won their first game 9-2.  The wind picked up a little and brought some clouds in during the second g...

School Ends Countdown

On our mantle we have a countdown to “School Ends” going. The kids are so ready for summer.   Another day, another ball game. The weather was perfect to watch Danny have a perfect catch in center field. Right before the game started Danny informed me he forgot his water bottle so I went to Tokyo Joe’s and grabbed him some Sobe Life Water (because it looked like the healthiest option) after the man at the register wouldn’t let me pay. When I arrived late J’s mom and dad told me I had missed two great catches in center field, so I teased that the 3rd catch that I was in time for was just for me.  Final score was 14-7. The last orchestra concert of the school year was brilliant. These students make so much progress in such a short amount of time under the incredible teaching of “Miss Fisch.” 7th Grade Orchestra Echelon:Kathryn Griesinger North Star to Freedom:Soon Hee Newbold Wood Splitter Fanfare:Brian Balmages Pops Orchestra Stranger Things:Sean O’Loughlin Music From La La Land...

Goodbye April & Hello May

For a month all four of our children were in braces!  I made sure to take a picture of them showing off the metal before Kate got her braces off. Her smile is absolutely gorgeous but I only got a pretty unnatural pic at the ortho's office where you can practically see the swear words written on her forehead.  Well, she may not be expressing gratitude for the thousands of dollars spent and countless trips to the office taken but I still think it was totally worth it. Natalie was thrilled to go to work with Hubby for Take Your Child To Work Day.  She spent the morning doing special activities like building a mock satellite and testing it.  They seemed to have a great morning with just the two of them and I am grateful his company is willing to put on an event that keeps getting better and better for the next generation. Behold:  the 3 day weekend.  My kids just wanted to be at home or hang out with friends so it was time for me to check something big off the ...
