Here’s part of Michelle’s fan club for her first middle school orchestra concert. Our neighbor who used to give her lessons even gave her chocolate for good luck! We were very impressed with how well these students played considering each grade level they were at.
This may look like an ordinary kitchen but I wanted to take a picture because I want to remember a magic moment that happened there. I was doing the dishes while my three middle schoolers were at the island talking to each other about math classes while Natalie did her math homework at the white table. I felt such an overwhelming feeling of joy simply being together. This is what I pictured motherhood to be. This was a glimpse into what I had imagined my home would be like - a dream come true. This isn’t the only time my kitchen has seen times like this but for me, the world just seemed right that night.
Back by popular demand, we did skits for Activity Days again but I had to slip in a “secret service” assignment before we began to make it feel more Christ like. The girls did a great job and had a lot of fun. Only this month and next month before Michelle and E. are in Young Womens and won’t be there to help lead anymore! I miss them already just thinking about it.
I was lucky enough to take a late lunch and a break combined to join my hubby and my mom cheering on Natalie in her school’s Turkey Trot. It was a beautiful fall day and I chuckled as I heard some of the children complaining about how hot it was as they ran around the building over and over again. Sure beats the time Kate ran around in sleet to raise money for her elementary school.
This sight made me giggle too. While I was watching Danny’s last intramural games, Hubby was home with the girls. When we walked in, Kate, C and A were playing MarioKart while Natalie was playing a mining game on not one but two different school iPads as she watched them race.
My favorite Sacrament meeting of the year is the Primary Program! I didn’t get any photos or video of the performance because Hubby and I now teach Michelle’s Primary class so I got to be up there singing and prompting and Hubby got to keep Danny company in the audience. It was Michelle’s last one before moving on to Young Womens in January and she wrote her own talk and of course performed well. Natalie opted not to have a speaking part but sang and was kind enough to let me take a picture of her when we got out of the truck. Hubby has recently worked hard to upgrade the sound system and it is impressive! Even having him show me and explain what he did I have no idea what’s going on but I know it sounds great!
This was a fun breakfast after T & P spent the night! Not pictured: the surreal experience of taking my oldest child to her high school open house. It was kind of chaotic with a booth format and the marching band going through the halls but Kate got to meet the head volleyball coach and talk to the head of the leadership academy (who I know from our old ward). She is onboard for volleyball but doesn’t want to do anything like the leadership academy’s capstone projects. Kate claims she doesn’t care about her resume because she doesn’t want to go to college. Although I know there is nothing wrong with not going the university route (and she has plenty of time to change her mind), it was the attitude of only doing the minimum to get by that cracked my heart a little. I truly hope that Kate will enjoy high school no matter what she decides to do after graduation!
