This year’s family reunion took my family to Bear Lake, in Utah/Idaho. Since I have only been working a couple weeks I didn't feel like it was appropriate for me to take time off work so Hubby ended up taking our children out of school and driving his truck to meet up with family. His family reunions are the best! From all accounts the lake was wonderful and our paddles boards, tubes, and volleyball net came in handy but that the best part was when they rented wave runners and a water trampoline. I experienced some major FOMO as I talked to Hubby but was so happy they got to have a good time. It was pretty boring without my favorite people around. With days that I could technically do whatever I wanted, I ended up cleaning the house, doing laundry and yard work (including putting down new mulch that included three trips to Home Depot), taking long walks with the dog, completing some required online training for my job, spending hours on my neglected inbox, listening to podcasts and finishing the book I Marched With Patton, exercising a little and watching movies I can't recommend to anyone. Yes, I purposefully watched movies I knew I was taking a risk on like The Kissing Booth 3, He's All That, Hillbilly Elegy on Netflix and the heartbreaking Howard on Disney+. Hubby is grateful they are no longer on my list so he is not in danger of watching them with me anymore. lol. In seriousness though, I was so happy to see them safely home I almost cried. So grateful for this family of mine.
The tail end of summer has been so much fun. The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to. First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday. Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time. I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...
