With much more free time now that the volleyball season is over and most parents around here being vaccinated, Kate has been able to hang out with friends and have sleepovers A LOT. It’s fun to have plenty of children in the house again! We (us 4 girls) even got to attend our first party like old times at P’s house while our boys were at a baseball tournament. The weather didn’t cooperate with their barbecue plans and it felt so strange to be socializing indoors with a crew of mostly people I have never met! Strange but good. I do admit I have a raging headache and I swear it’s from my brain overworking itself trying to figure out how it’s ok to be at what a few months ago would have been deemed a super speeder event. We all had a great time. Here’s proof: look at that second grader smile even though she was the youngest person at the party by years.
Danny has also managed to join in on the middle school sleepovers too, especially with all the rained out games and practices lately. There is usually a movie and games involved and really the hardest part is trying to feed them all in the morning. Lol. And we also still got plenty of baseball in. Don’t you worry about that. I don’t have a lot of pictures because I’m becoming suspicious that me having my camera out is a bad luck charm. When Hubby took him to games he hit his first triple and double and had an amazing catch in the outfield! I am so jealous I missed all of that! But a part of me can’t help but think he plays better when it’s his dad’s turn to watch.
Even though Michelle’s crowd doesn’t seem to being doing the sleepover thing much, she did get to help celebrate her friend’s birthday with their entire reading group from school. She had a wonderful time jumping on the trampoline and just being a kid. The sleepover was actually postponed a week because the birthday girl is on the competitive dance teams and they had an end of year “gala” for the girls. As soon as the team manager said the next award was for someone kind hearted, I knew that award was for my daughter! I’m so proud of who she is! Michelle is also gearing up for the end of year dance recital. So far the costumes are not comfortable but they sure look good. We also managed to be late to recital pictures one day and the next day we were half an hour early to senior hip hop crew tryouts. Oh, well! In good news, she will be competing on the dance team again next school year and is excited.

I was thrilled that even though the 5th graders wouldn’t be getting together for a school district wide field day, our school held a field day for our 5th graders at the nearest high school. I was even more excited when they said parents were allowed to come and watch. What a joy it was to see Michelle use those long legs of hers to win blue medals in both the 100m and 4x100m dashes. Everyone had such a good time. In fact, Michelle had so much fun she asked me to sign her up for the city’s track and field summer program. Between that and dance and signing up for the musical Hercules with her friend, M, she won’t be bored when school gets out.
Natalie is loving the end of the school year and when I offered to let her skip the last week of school (teasing) since they don’t learn anything that week anyway (total truth) Natalie said she wouldn’t want to miss a day with her teacher because she is so nice (fact)! A few days lately the weather was so nice she and A & A had water fights and they are definitely looking forward to summer now. Natalie is also loving softball and we got to watch the Niwot High School graduating seniors parade that came by right at the end of one of her practices. A woman was even there handing out pom poms and clappers to help the girls cheer as the fire truck and cars went by. Our local high school’s parade went near our house the next day and she ran out to cheer with the next door neighbor but she said the first one was better. Lol
We’ve also had some wonderful Friday mornings at the park with Church friends along with going to youth activities on certain Wednesdays. The trees are showing off their spring blooms! I realized I’ve actually been really bad about taking pictures lately and the ones I do take are hasty. So no slumber party pics (not like my middle schoolers would let me) and not many every day playing with the neighbor pics. Even my youngest has gotten to the point that it’s hard to get her to be in a picture. You’re just going to have to take my word for it with this picture of when Natalie and I baked cookies to take to the before mentioned bbq.
P.S. At Dr. Julie Hanks’ recommendation, I purchased “A Girl’s Guide to Heavenly Mother” online from the BYU bookstore and I am so glad I did. As I sat down reading it I felt so loved. There are many great pieces of artwork in the book but I especially loved the background in this one. Turns out the person who painted it is a cousin of one of my BYU 30th Wars friends. How wonderful! And while I’m on the topic of BYU, we have been loving All Around Champion lately and the children liked Dwight in Shinning Armor so much they want to rewatch old episodes after the new one comes out every week. Of course, once the new projector is fully functional we’ve been talking about watching WandaVision and Falcon & Winter Soldier again but Disney+ also moved up the Loki premier so I’m sure we will once again be glued to Marvel shows once a week again soon.
