That's A Wrap

End of school year fun meant a Girl Scout hike, K and D's field day (thank you, weather, for being perfect!), N's last day of preschool, M's beeswax wizard, and decorating cookies with Grandma while I took K to the optometrist.  We continued to enjoy D's baseball games and he even had one of K and D's last day of school.  It was so nice to just sit down and watch him play while Hubby stayed home with the girls.

I can't say enough good things about K's teacher and K is super excited to be in 5th grade and rule the elementary school next year.  D's teacher was so helpful and I really appreciated the time she took to talk to me and help me decide what is best for D in the next school year.

The roller blades we bought at the JBF sale have been a big hit!

My flowers brought me a lot of joy in the midst of all my coming and going.

We enjoyed more baseball, play dates, and even weeding at M's school.

M loved participating in her dance recital and her favorite dance was one she learned from India.  My dad, D and N and I were there for her while Hubby and my mom cheered on Maroon 9 in their last volleyball game.  It tore me up to not be able to go to both but K didn't mind since I let her and her favorite team mate make glitter slime at my house afterward.

N  got her first pair of glasses and was sooooo excited!  They are just little prescription reading glasses but I am hoping they might help her want to learn this summer.  Ha!

The children were so excited to use Hubby's truck to go camping for the first time over Memorial Day weekend.  Hubby was very pleased at how easily it pulled the trailer up to RMNP & the Moraine Park campground.  Being able to access the back was pretty amazing too.  If we weren't already thrilled with his purchase, we sure would be now.

S'more time!  K was disappointed that Hubby was so proud of his perfectly roasted s'more.  She believes that burning them is the only way to go.  lol.

Alberta Falls did not disappoint.  We felt lucky to find a place in the park that we could have pretty much to ourselves.  The children loved the ground squirrels begging for food and we got to see deer in our campground more than once.  (Don't worry we didn't feed the cute critters.)

The snow was pretty impressive at the Alpine Visitor's Center.  None of the trails or summer programs had opened/started yet but how often do you get to have a canvas like this at the end of May?

Cub Lake -- a tradition to freeze our feet in the mountain snow melt.  We are so lucky to live here!

Our favorite mini golf place reopened the day before we left the campground and N was one of the first customers to get a hole in one at the end.
We came home and were able to enjoy the movie Solo the next night with wonderful company.  I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the film.  I'll take Solo over The Last Jedi any day!

Due to me wanting confirmation that D was indeed supposed to go to the Waldorf school next year (which he could only do if he repeated 3rd grade due to his birthday), my dad took me to the temple while my mom babysat my 3 children that were already out of school.  It was so good to be there and be still.  I've been to the temple many times with my dad but this was our first time at the Fort Colliins temple together.  He told me a story in the temple that reminded me that the little things we do over time do make a big impact on our lives later.  When I had fewer responsibilities as a teenager and college student (and full time missionary of course) I spent a lot of time learning, seeking the Spirit, serving others and building up my testimony.  Now that I have children, I have been able to draw on those reserves.  The choices I made before I was even married have helped me through all the craziness of recent years.  I may not have reacted in stellar ways to the things I went through but I'm still here trying.  Sometimes that is all you can ask of someone.

M was back at school the day after Memorial Day and that's when my dad and I took D and M to rent their cello and viola while my mother watched K and N for me.  They absolutely love their instruments!  It is pretty amazing to see them learning and I am learning so much too.  I am grateful the Waldorf curriculum includes strings class.  I can see how it is good for this age and for so many different reasons.  It is also wonderful to have 2 children beginning at the same time.  For one thing, they don't feel picked on when I remind both of them they haven't practiced yet.

Another kid at the optometrist!  My poor mother did a lot of babysitting in May!

Perk of having a rain delay:  a beautiful double rainbow for your little sisters to enjoy while you play a game you love.

Yeah, baby.  That's how I felt about May too.  Only I can't get away with sleeping in until past 9am. (:

Homecoming 2025

The tail end of summer has been so much fun.  The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to.  First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday.  Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time.  I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...

45

I feel spoiled. My parents and our whole family around a dinner table was perfection. Hubby provided roses & a grilled steak, roasted potatoes, and fresh salad dinner complete with chocolate cake (decorated by Michelle).  My mom and dad bought me sweet and thoughtful gifts (including a mug Natalie had painted when my mom took her to Crackpots this summer) and even stayed to watch K Pop Demon Hunters in the basement. We thought it would be hilarious to watch them watch something so different from their favorite shows. They did not disappoint. It was a joyful evening that made me feel much better about turning 45 than I felt earlier in the day.  Below you’ll find what I had written before we celebrated.  Photo credit goes to Kate! 10 Years Ago I filled out interview questions for my 35th birthday and 5 years ago I did the same, adding 5 more questions.  I really don't think I should add 5 more every year because this is probably already too much information for an...

Adventures Begin

Michelle had been saving her money for years. She didn’t know exactly what for, but it turns out she used that money to travel with a group from her high school to Asia!  When people asked me at the end of the school year what I was excited for this summer, the first thing I would think of is Michelle’s trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam!  We loved getting texts and photos almost everyday and were able to FaceTime her a couple times.  She had quite the range of experiences from museums and treasures such as Angkor War to cooking classes and time on the water to learning how to fold flowers for offerings at famous Buddhas, and even hanging out with rats that sniff out landmines to be properly disposed of.  We are absolutely thrilled for her! While Michelle was in Asia, Hubby and Kate worked and Kate hung out with friends doing things like paddle boarding (it is great to hear her work stories!), Natalie and I watched the Women’s College World Series when we weren’...
