Hubby put in some long hours after returning home from camping so he could be home for the 4th of July. He volunteered to flip pancakes at the ward breakfast and made me a ton of gluten free/dairy free ones. He got to play soccer for the first time in a long time and we all had such a good time we stayed for hours. For dinner he was a master at the BBQ for our family, my parents, and a new family in the ward. When it was dark enough 5 neighbor families gathered next door to watch all the fireworks that had been purchased. One neighbor even bought illegal ones, which were extra exciting. No city fireworks for us this year and we didn't care! This was way more fun! Family, friends, and neighbors blowing up stuff together -- a great way to celebrate our wonderful nation's birthday. The kids can't wait for our next Independence Day.
The tail end of summer has been so much fun. The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to. First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday. Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time. I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...
