October leftovers

Here are a few photos I just had to include before saying I'm all caught up on the blog.  My parents' beautiful tree and Danny making snowballs with the first snow fall of the year.

Natalie wearing one of the bows  I got to make her at the LHC Fabulous Friday craft night.  Tiffany and the Relief Society committee did a great job as usual.  It was so fun to be with friends and make things my girls all loved.  The ribbon wands get played with every day and the snap bags have been hidden from me.  The Ball jar soap dispenser has upgraded our main floor bathroom as well.

Did I ever tell you about how it seems like all Kaelah's best friends move to the west coast?  Well, the F. family came back to visit!  Dia and Kaelah had a wonderful time together.  (How neat to see them happy after years of being apart.)  We are all hoping they can to move back here as soon as possible.
Here's Danny pointing at his favorite activity pool a month after the flooding.  Wowzers.  He had a hard time believing water could do that to a swimming pool.  He doesn't seem to trust his mom much.   (The soccer fields he plays at on Saturdays are on the other side.)
As soon as I took this picture I had to run and pick up Natalie because she started eating sand.  It's been a couple years since I've had to worry about things like that.  lol.  It was great to play at "our old park" and convince the children we didn't move too far away to visit.
Here's our play kitchen turned into a restaurant.  They made computers out of paper to take your order and play money for you to pay with.  I was super impressed and happy to see them playing so nicely together.  They played this "game" on and off for days.
Cute little shot of Michelle & Meigo together.  They are both so sweet.
Last day of Michelle's dance class.  She dressed up as a ballerina for dance class because somehow I didn't get the message saying they could wear their Halloween costumes.  Luckily Michelle didn't care!  I love the teacher's Mary Poppins costume.  When I taught preschool some of the parents called me that.  Brought back some good memories of kind people.  Too bad I don't feel like that with my own kids.  I blame it on housework.
M's room is the only bedroom that is south facing in our new house and I was lucky enough to find perfectly purple blackout curtains at Target.  She loves to have them closed so there is lots of purple in her room.  She also says it keeps her room from getting too hot.  After 2 months, I'm glad we have it more the way she wants it.
K, D, and M are all taking a class at the rec center that includes yoga, talking about feelings, and techniques to use to help deal with stressful situations.  They love it.  They also love the fact that mom and dad usually end up taking them out to eat dinner at Chick-Fil-A afterwards due to the location and end time.

Whew.  I think I'm caught up on the blog for the first time since we moved.  I am grateful for two birth families texted me recently to get me blogging again.  I don't know if I would have enough determination to do this without them.  This is the only sort of journaling I do, so I am grateful to them.  It's about time to turn the blog into a book again!  I was going to make one for 2012 to 2013 (using Blurb again) since doing almost 4 years in 2011 was tough.  Maybe it can wait until 2014....

Homecoming 2025

The tail end of summer has been so much fun.  The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to.  First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday.  Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time.  I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...

45

I feel spoiled. My parents and our whole family around a dinner table was perfection. Hubby provided roses & a grilled steak, roasted potatoes, and fresh salad dinner complete with chocolate cake (decorated by Michelle).  My mom and dad bought me sweet and thoughtful gifts (including a mug Natalie had painted when my mom took her to Crackpots this summer) and even stayed to watch K Pop Demon Hunters in the basement. We thought it would be hilarious to watch them watch something so different from their favorite shows. They did not disappoint. It was a joyful evening that made me feel much better about turning 45 than I felt earlier in the day.  Below you’ll find what I had written before we celebrated.  Photo credit goes to Kate! 10 Years Ago I filled out interview questions for my 35th birthday and 5 years ago I did the same, adding 5 more questions.  I really don't think I should add 5 more every year because this is probably already too much information for an...

Adventures Begin

Michelle had been saving her money for years. She didn’t know exactly what for, but it turns out she used that money to travel with a group from her high school to Asia!  When people asked me at the end of the school year what I was excited for this summer, the first thing I would think of is Michelle’s trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam!  We loved getting texts and photos almost everyday and were able to FaceTime her a couple times.  She had quite the range of experiences from museums and treasures such as Angkor War to cooking classes and time on the water to learning how to fold flowers for offerings at famous Buddhas, and even hanging out with rats that sniff out landmines to be properly disposed of.  We are absolutely thrilled for her! While Michelle was in Asia, Hubby and Kate worked and Kate hung out with friends doing things like paddle boarding (it is great to hear her work stories!), Natalie and I watched the Women’s College World Series when we weren’...
