Dear Kaelah,
Oh, what a year you've had. What comes to mind? Your 3rd broken bone during your 1st trip to Disney World, your desire to learn to draw and read and write, your fashion sense, your beautiful hair, how much you love your dance/gymnastics class, how badly you want to move to where you have cousins, your potential. I am grateful you joined our family. Now that you are here, I can't imagine living life without you. I hope every year will bring you more joy and less sorrow than the one before.
Love you, incredible girl.
~Mom
Kaelah loved being spoiled for her birthday. Who wouldn't? I'm glad she doesn't have to wait long after Danny's birthday to celebrate her own... it seems to keep her pretty patient. (:We had a small gathering: our family, my parents, and Kaelah's friend, Serena, and some of her family. My mother had been sick and I was grateful she was well again in time to attend, even if that meant she wasn't able to make the cake. Target to the rescue. It was yummy and had 3 Disney princesses. There is nothing more Kaelah would want out of a birthday cake.
Kaelah's 5 year check up was no better than Danny's 3rd year. They drew blood to check her thyroid (due to her breaking bones) again and tested her for celiac disease as well, since they were already poking her. Both results were fine. We discovered this summer Kaelah is super lactose intolerant so we are trying to cut milk completely out of her diet. Lucky for me a couple of my friends have children who are allergic to milk, so I got lots of insider information. We know own fake shredded cheese, fake cream cheese, fake sour cream, dairy free cake mix and pudding, the only bread I could find that doesn't have milk or HFCS and a big bottle of Lactase for when we need to cheat a little. The tummy ache complaints have lessened a lot but there still may be more stops on our adventure. Our pediatrician said that if we can't get this all figured out, Kaelah may have to have her colon scoped. Please, no! I don't want my 5-year-old to go through that. I'm thinking I should find a holistic doctor to take her to.
In other news, Kaelah, once again, amazed me with being able to put 2 & 2 together. For FHE last week we talked about the miracles of Jesus like healing the blind man or the woman who had been sick for years and simply touched the Savior's clothes. As we were getting out a treat to eat afterwards, Kaelah came walking into the kitchen and announced she was going to pray for a miracle... for a baby to be in Mommy's tummy. I'm glad she got the point that God is all powerful and wants to help us. She has all sorts of plans for her new baby sister. (I asked if Danny should have a brother & she said not unless we could have boy & girl twins. lol.) She wants the crib to be in her room and she wants to name her Angela and she wants me to take my Lovenox again. After having a miscarriage in January of this year, it took me a solid 6 months to get over it and actually be excited about having my 3 children to raise. We've been having a ton of fun the last few weeks together and honestly, if Kaelah does get a little brother or sister it will be a miracle... based completely on her pure faith. Good luck, Kaelah. I hope everything turns out well for you.
