Beginning on November 1st, my children missed being able to play outside every day, but we've had some good things divert us. For one thing, I am very grateful we finished off our basement this summer! Having that nice, cozy place to romp & play & read books is like having a whole 'nother home to call your own.
One day after library story time it was pretty obvious the children needed some lunch & a place to exercise, so my parents helped me take them to Chick-fil-A. It was a hit & I'm sure we'll be there more & more as winter goes by.
One day Grandpa helped me take all of them swimming at the Rec. Center. To our pleasant surprise, the girls enjoyed themselves much more than the last time we were at an indoor pool (Danny loves water no matter what). In fact, Michelle had such a great time, I signed her up for Aquababies, a 3 session class for her & I to attend after we get back from Florida.
On 11/11/11 I wanted to do something special to celebrate. At first I wanted to throw a Dr. Who party & invited the E. family & the W. family, but Maddie was in the NHS musical that night, so I've warned Dan the party is already scheduled for 12/12/12. I couldn't think of anything fun to do with Veterans' Day so we celebrated Poland's Constituion Day, much like our Independence Day. Gma helped, of course, since this was last minute. Thanks, Mom! We decorated in red & white, ate Polish food, listened to Polish music, made Dan say grace in Polish, & watched a little bit of our one & only Polish movie. I'm so glad my husband served his mission in such a cool place. I think everyone had a great time, but sadly, on the way home, my dad was rear-ended at a red light. He will be okay, but he got some minor whip lash that the doctor said will last a week or two. I'm just grateful he or the car didn't have more damage than it did.
Look at all those smiling ladies! We're at the NHS presentation of Le Mes and it was fantastic! 6 of my 8 Laurels were in it, including Hannah playing the part of Cosette & she nailed it. The other girls were the highlights of the chorus -- simply great. I feel so lucky to have a calling in Young Womens. I wish I could spend more time ministering & less time administering (after having just completed the 2012 calendar last night), but this was one of those things where I just felt lucky to even know the young women's names. Big shout out to Sandy & Jessica for letting me drive them there. Things like this are so much fun when you have company the entire time. I was blessed to sit by Jane & Katy too, 2 women I've known and looked up to for years. I can't wait for the spring musical!
