Christmas Card ‘25 🎄

Happy Holidays! Dan is approaching year 20 of being an aerospace engineer. He makes our world a better place simply by being the wonderful man that he is day in and day out. His new hobby is keeping the hot tub in our remodeled backyard usable. Sarah is still a part time special ed para at the local middle school, loves watching her children do what they like to do and keeping the house running. She is still guilty of planning the next vacation before the last one is even over.  Kate is a senior in high school and is already admitted to more than one school she would enjoy going to but hasn't made any commitments yet.  She knows she wants to stay here in Colorado. Danny is a junior and just made the varsity basketball team. He and Dan take turns driving the manual Honda Civic, which they are both better at driving than I am. Michelle is a sophomore and has a schedule that makes me tired just thinking about it. 4 orchestras, tons of honors classes, SCLA Ambassador, st...

Snowy Home

Not only did we get to enjoy a beautiful fall, but during the week after Thanksgiving we received a beautiful snow storm that made our home feel truly like Christmas.  The sunrises have been amazing too! I got to be the one to go to Danny’s first official basketball game of the season in Berthoud.  The games were running late so I got to watch the girls varsity game too.  I was surprised to realize that I knew most of the girls thanks to my 3 high schoolers and working at Altona.  When I told Danny that after the game he said he was surprised I didn’t know all of them.  lol  It was a good game but my son wasn’t allowed to play until the second half because I took him to NYC over Thanksgiving Break.  Oh, well.  Creek dominated and final score ended up being 85-55.  Great way to start the season on the road.  And on the road they kept going with heading to Pueblo for a tournament!  They played 3 games there with 3 wins: 62-38, 67-42 a...

New York City 🗽

MONDAY Traveling was one of the smoothest trips we’ve ever taken, which was great because we were worried about the Thanksgiving air traffic so soon after a government shutdown. 2 Yellow taxis complete with one having to swerve when another car hit construction cones. Times Square with all the lights and smells with “Welcome to New York” & “Empire State of Mind” playing  Carmine’s, the best value of our entire trip.  Huge thanks to Jess for recommending it to me!  More Italian food than we could eat, allergy friendly, great service and family style meant less money too. TUESDAY NYC Subway about a dozen times.  Still walked about 7 miles a day. The Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Some of us were more excited than others but we all agreed there was some pretty amazing stuff in there.  The Greek and Roman and Egypt exhibits were enjoyed by all. “Fat pigeons” were on Michelle’s checklist and we saw plenty of those. We dropped by the Flagship Apple St...

A Balmy November

Kate and Willa had a great time at the CU vs AZ football game!  Willa's aunt works at CU and was able to score some great tickets that she shared with the girls.  I'm so glad she got to have that next level game experience as she's receiving acceptance letters (emails) from colleges. Michelle is still hiking and the weather has been kind to this hiking club this autumn.  This time Mr. N chaperoned a hike on the Coulson Gulch Trail at 7.3 miles with 1,410 feet of elevation gain.  As I dropped four teens at the trailhead I was asked if I was coming along and told them that 6 miles is my max.  lol. Apparently it was an easier hike than anticipated and the kids I was giving a ride too waited almost half an hour for me to pick them up and were simply grateful to have a ride home.  And then they still all met at the Lyons Dairy Bar for ice cream afterwards.  Such a great group of humans attend these hikes! Their next hike was Mount Sanitas Trail Loop from Ce...
