Almost Summertime '25

How on Earth did we end up with a weekend with no softball or basketball games?  Mother's Day weekend was insanely unscheduled and you betcha I was lazy as can be.  The one thing on our calendar was to go see Angkor: The Lost Empire of Cambodia exhibit at the DMNS.  Hubby, Michelle, Natalie and I met up with Ms. A and Liz, who will be traveling to Thailand and Cambodia with Michelle this summer.  It was so neat to learn about such an amazing place knowing that half of us were going to get to visit less than a month from now. We followed up our museum visit with Vietnamese food nearby and the restaurant even had doggie bags for Hubby to take the beef bone home to Maisie for us. Between where we parked and our lunch was a really neat motorcycle shop and now my husband is seriously considering taking motorcycle lessons.  I thought about doing the same and buying myself a Vespa (there was a mint green one that was so pretty) but between knowing I only really need a...

May the 4th Be With You

The first Friday of May Danny came with the future varsity team to visit the 8th graders during lunch. They invited the future freshmen to the high school's open gyms this summer and played against them during recess.  It was a blast to be able to see him but I did warn him afterwards that one of my students fell in love with the entire basketball team while they were visiting. The next day I got to watch Danny play basketball and that always feels like an adventure.  Getting the car to drive a mile away and you have  a general idea of what is going to happen but don't really know what you are going to see.  Will there be foul trouble? Will they be playing against kids a foot taller than them?Danny and the ...

Easter & Beyond

The birthday parties continued with N attending AB’s party complete with a trip to Get Air.  These girls have had a lot of fun together over the past month! Easter morning finally came on April 20th this year. Here is a picture Natalie took of us when we got home from the special Sacrament meeting. Since our children aren’t huge fans of ham, we opted for fish this year and used a recipe from our copycat cookbook for salmon that turned out well with the Stealhead from Costco.  The entire meal was delicious and I was grateful to have our entire family plus my mom together even though my Dad wasn’t feeling well. We opted for the bunny rabbit cake pan for our cake this year instead of the demented sheep. Lol And I got Danny (Kate declined) to participate in the egg hunt by letting him know there was a $20 bill up for grabs and he got it! The weather has been close to perfect this spring. Just in time because also happening Easter weekend was the beginning of kennel training Maisie...
