Florida Business Trip

When I found out Hubby was getting sent on a business trip to Florida’s Space Coast you bet I wanted to go with him!  Luckily he will have a companion pass through SW for a limited time so he was able to get me a ticket to join him for only $12 in fees!  I begged my mom to babysit while we went out of town and I’m grateful she agreed (along with the few other parents I asked to give my kids rides places while I was away).  When Hubby said I should join him on business trips more often I told him I might run out of people I can ask favors of! Our flight left Saturday morning and even though the airport was super busy — the bag check and security lines seemed scary long — it was all ok.  We picked up our luggage and rental car and headed to the Vineland Disney’s Character Warehouse for the first time and let’s just say it may have been more crowded than the airport.  Ha!  Then we rushed over to our dinner reservation at Raglan Road and that place definitely l...

Happy Birthday, Boys!

Hubby drove us safely home from Lake McConaughy first thing in the morning and we had plenty of time to unpack and clean up (even washing Danny’s uniforms) before heading off to Natalie’s double header and Danny’s scrimmage. Natalie’s first game she played short stop but surprisingly nothing really came her way. She got a lot more action the next game playing first base and right field!  It was fun to see our girls win against a team that had beat us by a lot the last time we played them. The second team they played against had an amazing pitcher. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pitcher throw so many strikes at this age level.  And just like that the last game of the season was over.  Natalie's grey Raptors jersey can join her collection of other colorful jerseys she keeps in a tidy pile in her closet. After the last game I realized I was never emailed Natalie’s team and individual photos so luckily the coach could give me the right contact info and I was able to ge...

Nebraska

The middle of June found us road tripping to Omaha with Danny’s baseball team. They played in the Battle of Omaha tournament in conjunction with the Men’s College World Series. The team opted to let families choose whoever they wanted to stay and we found a unique little AirBNB that seemed to be 15 minutes or less from anywhere we wanted to go. The building used to be an electric house for historic southern Omaha. Hubby was saying that coal was kept in the basement and the furnaces were up top. We loved the mix of old plus new and it worked out great for the four of us. Yes, not everyone came along. Kate was on the fence and eventually opted to stay home with Grandma because she missed Piper. Michelle was already signed up to attend an overnight Summer Music Academy at our local college so stayed home in order to still attend that with her friend, R.  Luckily R’s parents could drop the girls off together since we were already out of town and then I was set up for pick up duty after...
