Dancing & D's Birthday

The first week of June brought us M's dance recital, playing at local parks, D going to our neighbor W's birthday party in the morning and having D's 8th birthday party in the evening!   My  boy turned 8! I can't believe he is growing up so fast! I'm so sad my days of having a little boy are over but I am certain I will love having him around the next 8 years as well.  D decided to have a movie themed birthday party and we watched Monster Trucks after the boys ate dinner and played in the pool. That movie was a pleasant surprise! (Exceeded my expectations.) This was the first time I had someone request an ice cream cake and DQ was just as good as he dreamed. D was so happy to have good friends over and loved the presents he received from them and our family. I'll love you forever, my boy, no matter what! I am so grateful you are a part of my family.  The actual day Danny turned 8 he had a birthday lunch at Cafe Rio and received a Nintend...

Boulder, Butterflies & Day Camp

Our first full week of summer vacation   My boy and I did the Bolder Boulder for the first time and loved it. He was a little too happy about all the free sports drinks they handed out and actually got a side stitch from drinking so much so early. We ended up walking most of the way due to it and he did things like go on a slip n slide as we went along. Here I had been worried about keeping up with him and instead I had to encourage him to keep going. I hadn't trained the way I wanted to due to my arm injury in January. It finally began to feel good again in May. I had to laugh after the 10k because the knee I hurt skiing in college that requires a knee brace was fine but the knee without a brace complained for a few days. Next time I went running I had knee braces on both knees and Hubby got to tease me about being a bionic woman. A major battle took place on Tuesday when I decided to take the children to the Butterfly Pavilion and my oldest decided she wanted to st...

The End of PS, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Grade

The last week and a half of school kept us on our toes and having lots of fun. The last of volunteering in classrooms, collecting money and deciding on a class gift for K's teacher, filling out paperwork and taking training so I can help at Cub Scout day camp and getting myself a tetanus shot..... The last full day of school I spent almost the entire day there for watching the older 3 participate in field day and attending N's end of year celebration. I'm so glad the weather was more cooperative this year and that my dad could come with me -- the only day he had off work that week. It meant a lot to the children and into have him there. The last day of school included taking in the class gift, bringing the requested Chick-Fil-A to the all school picnic, and wishing and thanking teachers and wondering about next year. By the time the children had been home for two hours I could ...
