All sorts of stuff

N and I were pretty excited when our Compost bin suddenly appeared in our driveway one morning. We will pay about $6/month extra to compost but we now have a small size trash can, which is about $6/month cheaper so really not much difference in cost to do our part to have a greener home. A friend of M's mom also hooked me up with Norwex so I'm using less soap in the kitchen now too.      This year M and D's choir concerts were on the same night and they both had speaking parts. M's theme was rainbows and she made sure I wore my Muppets   shirt to watch. K, M and N all helped me make a shirt for D to wear with his good friend, M.C. Last year D looked like he was going to fall asleep and this year he was animated and had a great time. Part of it was because there was no Power Point presentation about music curriculum. Having a Dr. Seuss theme is pretty fun and dressing up with a friend is even better.    Eating at Whole Foods h...

President's Day Weekend

We have traveled to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science we can't even count.  With a 4 day weekend right before our annual membership expired, we headed down for another trip.  Other than finding a fake anaconda added to one of the exhibits, we felt like we had seen it all.  So at lunch time we headed to the nearest Good Times drive through and went over to the Denver Art Museum to see the traveling Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit.  It did not disappoint! It was pretty exciting to see the real costumes but I thought all the little details about costume inspiration was even more interesting.  Examples include Han Solo coming from the Old West gunslinger days, the Empire's coming from Nazi uniforms, Darth Vader being based on Samurai. After showing Hubby some of the places we enjoyed on our last visit, the children got to practice making their own costumes before heading home. One thing about long weekends is w...

Happy Valentine's Day!

One of the things I get to do is attend Activity Days with K.  The Valentine activity was quite clever and enjoyable.  An act of service the girls did was to make hearts and walk down the street to heart attack the bishop's front door.  It was made even more fun due to the sheet of frozen rain that turned the sidewalk into an ice rink! Progress at 100 mile club:  M hit the 50 mile mark and D hit the 75.  I took this picture right before Hubby took him to his district Klondike activity.  It was unusually warm and windy and he seemed to have a good time but was even more excited to work on his first pinewood derby car after he got home. While Hubby and D were at the Klondike, we girls picked up Grandpa and headed to the Girl Scout day at the CSU basketball game.  I hadn't been there since watching my sister-in-law's sister-in-law play volleyball there over a decade ago.  This was their first college sporting event and their favorite...
