Homecoming week was even more fun with half of our kids in high school. For instance, when Kate and Danny went to the powder puff game, Coach Prime (Deion Sanders) was there to watch his niece play. The high school me was so happy for them! I told them to enjoy this year of having him around because once his niece graduates in the spring you probably won't see him at your high school again. Of course knowing he had been there made it even more fun to watch CU beat Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Friday afternoon I was so grateful to get to help take some of our ssn students out to watch the homecoming parade so that I could see Danny on the basketball float aka trailer. He had gone with C the day before to help make the signs. Natalie got to walk over from the elementary school and Michelle, of course, got to watch from the middle school like I did. That evening I helped with the football game concession stand as one of the basketball moms and I've decided that helping with those should be great Alzheimer's prevention. The other parents that were helping were great too, including a mom we knew from Kate's volleyball days and the mom of a senior who has taken Danny under his wing.
Saturday included me finishing my online med training for work while Hubby took Danny to shop for homecoming dance apparel, watching the CU football game on tv, getting to hang out with my dad while watching Natalie play on her new softball team's first game of the season, and getting cute pictures like this texted to me from other high school moms. Kate and Danny both had a great time hanging out with friends, going to the dance, with Danny going to a party afterwards and Kate having some friends spend the night at our house. I'm so happy for them and glad they are enjoying high school so far!

And just like that another week went by. Really not much to say other than hubby, Michelle, Natalie and I all got sick with a mysterious virus. At one point Natalie and I binged watched all three of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movies plus Michelle joined us to watch the XO, Kitty spinoff TV show. In one day. That is how miserable we felt and Noah Centineo is the perfect actor to help with not feeling good.
Kate got to watch the CSU vs. CU volleyball game last weekend. Although we all would have loved to be there for the historic CSU vs. CU football game it sounds like that volleyball game was quite the showdown as well. Kate was texting us during the game to let us know that CSU won the first two sets and CU pulled off winning the last three sets in what seems to be a very close game with some pretty intense cheering/jeering. Kate also got to spend the night at H’s house and enjoy their hot tub after the game. I’m so happy for her.

Saturday found Hubby and I dividing and conquering with Hubby taking Natalie to softball out of town while I got to watch Danny play in the first two flag football games of the season. It was so fun to see him out on a field and making amazing catches. I was informed, however, that since it’s flag football (vs tackle) it’s not a big deal and nothing worth posting about. But I have to mention this one handed catch was so impressive both sets of team parents gasped. It’s hard for Danny not to play tackle football for the high school team but I’m still proud of him even if he’s not proud of himself.

That night while Natalie was at A’s 10th birthday party and having so much fun, Hubby and I found ourselves taking our middle children shopping and eating dinner at Shake Shack. It was so much fun to be in Boulder on rivalry football day and later a coworker gave me the tip that if you’re trying to get Buff tickets some will suddenly appear on the websites an hour or two before the game and you might be able to snag some for a reasonable price. I’m going to have to keep that in mind! The next day included more shopping for Danny and I in the morning (who took this photo before we got in the car) and more celebrating of a birthday for Natalie, this time a heavenly one. There was so much love present at Y’s grave. The group then moved to a nearby park to have a party for him. You could tell the children needed this. They needed to gather and show their friend they remembered him together as a group. The amount of strength it took for his parents to do this for these children is immeasurable. I am so grateful for them and for all of Y’s wonderful friends and family who came. Love truly is the most powerful force on earth.
