Merry Christmas

On December 23rd I decided we needed hair cuts before Christmas and all the photos that would be taken over the weekend.  K, D, M, and I all got ours cut while N stayed close by watching.  Afterwards we kidnapped Hubby from work and had him take us out for lunch at Pizzeria Da Lupo.  Then we told him the children had done draw names and wanted to pick out presents for each other at the toy store only 2 doors down.  Somehow after all that he was still able to do what he needed to get done at work that day.  I love this picture K snuck of him smiling at me while waiting at a red light.  He loves me.  I love him too.
After letting Hubby go back to work, we headed to the mall to use a $5 coupon I had and got some steals at Gymboree.  The Apple Store is completely different than when I worked there and the kids couldn't believe that had been one of my jobs before they were all born.  10 years ago now.  Wow.  The Disney Store employees got to know us pretty well!  M was quick to win the scavenger hunt one of them told her about and earned a tsum tsum bracelet.  It was pretty tough to rip them away but I was happy they were having a good time.  Claire's and Build a Bear where must visits as well.  It's not very often we have the time to just hang out while school is in session.

My parents came over on Christmas Eve to celebrate with us.  My mother loves to collect gifts for her grandchildren.  I think the most enjoyed this year was the glitter and face paint.  She even remembered to buy the dog presents!  My father gave the children 3 trucks his mother had saved from his childhood.  They were precious to him and have now become the same to my own children.

We highly recommend "Ticket to Ride: First Journey" as a board game.  It's great for this elementary school age group and entertains the adults as well.
Hubby and I had a lot of fun with presents this year.  I thought his idea of an Ewok in each stocking was so cute and the kids all loved having one.  M has loved the one she brought home from spring break and now Wicket has friends to play with -- along with a twin wearing a green hood.  (I paid for the Ewoks with credit card points so didn't even have to hand over money for them.)

D is totally in love with his DS we bought used at Game Stop.  I wish we had a video of M realizing she got a Little Woodzees tree house.  We got an amazing deal at Target for it -- 100% off with purchase of $12 accessory pack.  I know!  K got a new scooter and she and I both like it so much I told her I want one for myself next Christmas!

My husband loves me enough to sneak a picture of my children singing in the Christmas morning music program for me.  I'm sure someone out there will tisk tisk about it but seriously, we go every single week.  Why not have a photo to put in their scrapbooks to prove it?

The rabbit and guinea pigs were given organic carrots for Christmas and N couldn't have been happier to play deliverer.  Or to have a lamb hat/scarf like her big sister.  She was also the only one I could get to stand in front of the tree and cheese for me after the presents were opened.

The 2 days after Christmas D and M went to the local gymnastics place to participate in a Star Wars day and Minecraft day camp.  They were missed but had a great time!  I love that they get to do fun things while there is no school but also get lots of R&R as well.  It's great to have them all around more.  Happy Holidays!

Homecoming 2025

The tail end of summer has been so much fun.  The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to.  First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday.  Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time.  I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...

45

I feel spoiled. My parents and our whole family around a dinner table was perfection. Hubby provided roses & a grilled steak, roasted potatoes, and fresh salad dinner complete with chocolate cake (decorated by Michelle).  My mom and dad bought me sweet and thoughtful gifts (including a mug Natalie had painted when my mom took her to Crackpots this summer) and even stayed to watch K Pop Demon Hunters in the basement. We thought it would be hilarious to watch them watch something so different from their favorite shows. They did not disappoint. It was a joyful evening that made me feel much better about turning 45 than I felt earlier in the day.  Below you’ll find what I had written before we celebrated.  Photo credit goes to Kate! 10 Years Ago I filled out interview questions for my 35th birthday and 5 years ago I did the same, adding 5 more questions.  I really don't think I should add 5 more every year because this is probably already too much information for an...

Adventures Begin

Michelle had been saving her money for years. She didn’t know exactly what for, but it turns out she used that money to travel with a group from her high school to Asia!  When people asked me at the end of the school year what I was excited for this summer, the first thing I would think of is Michelle’s trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam!  We loved getting texts and photos almost everyday and were able to FaceTime her a couple times.  She had quite the range of experiences from museums and treasures such as Angkor War to cooking classes and time on the water to learning how to fold flowers for offerings at famous Buddhas, and even hanging out with rats that sniff out landmines to be properly disposed of.  We are absolutely thrilled for her! While Michelle was in Asia, Hubby and Kate worked and Kate hung out with friends doing things like paddle boarding (it is great to hear her work stories!), Natalie and I watched the Women’s College World Series when we weren’...
