June 1st marked the end of Kaelah's first year of preschool. Granted she only attended one morning a week, the good that came from it was huge. I'm quite excited for her to begin going 2 mornings a week next fall so she can enjoy the structure, the planning, the environment, her friends, & a very patient, quiet, calm, fun adult more than once a week. Dan suggested we send her all 3 mornings & send Danny 1 morning, but b/c Kaelah still seemed unsure at the celebrations & Danny would only be 2-years-old I decided to just sign Kaelah up for 2 days. However, whenever I loose my temper, I think Dan was right. Can you tell by the picture below that Stacie loves children & they love her?
After the closing ceremony, we just stayed a played for a while. Here's Kaelah pushing a doll buggy around. Waldorf school teachers sure do know how to pick great toys.
Below Kaelah is showing me how to play kitchen at school. "Like this...."

Danny was just glad he could be around the chickens & play for a while. The boy loves the chickens. Turns out this strong little one also enjoys pulling his little sister in a wagon & she likes it too. Who knew?
Congrats on being such a big girl, Kaelah! You've grown up so much in every way... especially up! (I laughed when I saw the spare clothing I had packed in September. She never needed it, so it was still a 3T outfit. She just began wearing size 5T.)
Oh, & I thought I would bring this up b/c other people have been asking me. With Kaelah turning 4 this summer, friends have been talking about kindergarten & when Kaelah will start. Working at a Waldorf school made me very leery of sending a child into 1st grade before they were completely ready. I have no doubt that Kaelah is bright enough (she already can identify a lot of the alphabet & probably more intelligent than I am) and physically ready (she is tall & very coordinated & FAST) but unless she begins enjoying being around crowds of people more, I just can't send her to elementary school with people she has never met before. Case in point: Kaelah has known a lot of the members of our congregation since she she was born & loves being around them one family at a time, but every Sunday she gets so stressed out she needs lots of snuggles when we get home or else she takes it out on us via violent behavior. I can't imagine sending her to school 5 days a week when she is barely 5-years-old if being around people takes that much out of her. So, in other words, time will tell. Same goes for Danny with his summer birthday. He just doesn't seem like the classroom type so far... but he sure is friendly, so we'll just wait & see!
