What a loooong Halloween weekend it was. I was really glad when it was over. However, I was also really glad to see the inside of Dan's new work and meet the people he spends all day with. (Dan didn't show me his cubicle at his former workplace until he knew he was leaving & I razzed him for it. Yes, that took 6.5 years. I guess I am not as good at nagging as I thought.) Since this is a rather new satalite of the main company, most of his co-workers are in the same age range as us, so it was a blast to see A BUNCH of little children trick-or-treating to the cubicles. We had to watch Danny boy closely... he was very interested in the computers and equipment (& the little guy was a mess of sticky goo too).
I promise my butterfly was having a great time -- she just doesn't like strangers taking pictures. Oh, & she has a wonderful friend from Le Leche League that she has been playing with all summer that she didn't recognize at all because it was out of context. They shared a table & stared at each other like, "yes, my mother has gone insane bringing me here too but I like the cupcakes, apple juice, & candy" looks. The 2 of them tried to avoid any interaction outside the comforts of their table besides the candy grabbing.
On Saturday night there was a chili cook-off & 'trunk-or-treat' at Church. Kaelah was thrilled to pal around with her new favorite nursery friend. I was told to "go away" as she went off to snag more loot. I seriously didn't know that would happen at age 3 instead of 6. I miss being a cool teacher sometimes. (I am much cooler & nicer when I only have to be around you from 8am to 5pm.)
The pumpkin that had been waiting patiently to fulfill its destiny as a jack-o-lantern was carved on Sunday afternoon. Danny & Kaelah were resting when Dan began cleaning it out so I insisted we see what Michelle thought. I think the pictures will tell you better than I can how much she liked it. I think I have a tomboy on my hands & I am so excited about it! (Girly-girl + 100% boy + tomboy = balance.)

Then it was Michelle's turn to nap & Danny's turn to help Daddy with the pumpkin. Yes, we let our 17-month-old poke it with a knife. He is being VERY closely supervised by his father.
Our 2 jack-o-lanterns. One is much better at holding still than the other. lol. Can you see the bats in the belfry?
Sunday night we dressed our children up again to see some of our friends in the neighborhood. Danny thought it was so neat to walk around & be invited inside. He is a true socialite & certainly knows how to make himself feel at home. Kaelah only could stand it b/c we also got candy. Did I tell you she LOVES candy & will even poop on the potty for it now? Yes, her Halloween candy lives in the bathroom & can only be accessed a couple times a day this way. I am mean.
Amid the 12 mo. girl clothes I found this bunny costume that I have no idea where it came from. It was a great way to keep her warm, so we took & it ran with it. Actually, didn't run at all. That would have required some face paint to draw on a black nose & whiskers.
This year made me decide that Halloween is evil. But it is Kaelah's absolute favorite time of year, so we'll keep on going with the teaching our children to be greedy candy addicts. Besides, I have too much fun dressing them up.
