At Christmas time my in-laws told us about going to San Diego. The thought of taking a 4-month-old, a 14-months-old, & a barely 3-year-old made me shutter. Turns out it was terrific! The mini van made a huge difference -- those reclining captain chairs are amazing. And Michelle is definitely our best infant traveler to have graced our little family. The V55 & iPod video I was given while working at the Apple Store was a huge hit too. Kaelah wishes we could go to California every day!
It was also nice we could break up the trip by staying for a day with family in Utah. Dan's grandmother & brothers & sisters have all now met baby Michelle -- yeah! I'm grateful they were all willing & able to meet us when we were on such a tight schedule. 24 hours really isn't that long when you have meal time, nap time, & bed time to worry about. I also got to surprise the M. family, who was so good to my family when we lived in Hays. Mylee's mother was the one that made my senior year prom dress from some fabric my mother had purchased in Singapore in the '60s. (It's the same dress I wore to the 1940s ball this summer.) On the way home we also got to stop by Dan's Uncle Jim & Aunt Mel's house near Vegas. We haven't been there since we were engaged in 2003! Guess we need to get out more, because Dan's family is great. And the people they marry are great too. Ha ha.
Looks like I'm talking more about the traveling than the week we spent in California! The beach house my brother-in-law picked out in Solana Beach was fantastic. We enjoyed Fletcher's Cove (perfect for little children) & Sea World & the San Diego Zoo. Being those places for the first time made the trip so special for me. I love going places I've never been before. Seeing pandas & koalas in real life brought out the kid in me. All the tricks Shamu & the other sea animals did almost made me cry in amazement at them & their Creator. Watching my children enjoy the beach suddenly made me want to join a time share. Great trip. I'm so glad we went. I hope this slide show of pictures will fill you in on the rest.
