Husband tag

Admitting it's a little intimidating to be tagged by my husband's sister...

What is his name?  Daniel Wayne
How did you meet? We both moved to Centennial Apts. Spring 2001.  I was one of the FHE co-chairs & he was one of the dads.  We ended up talking for hours after I told him how to do his job.  (:
How long have you been married?  4 years, 9 months, & 4 days
How long did you date?  Ummm... if you only count time we were in the same state & before we were engaged... 2 months.  If you count long distance too, 23 months.
How old is he?  The big 3-0!!!
How old are you? 27 (thank goodness I'm not 30!)
Who eats more sweets?  Danny, hands down!  I don't know if he'd ever eat 'real' food if he didn't have to.
Who is taller?  Hello!  That almost 10" gap should be pretty clear.
Who is the better singer?  Considering I've only really heard him sing while I was the primary chorister, we might have to say I do just b/c I know the words.  (:
Who is smarter?  Danny.  But I'm always right.
Who does the laundry?  I'm pretty good at getting it through the machines & putting Kaelah's clothes away, but usually Danny ends up putting our clothes on the hangers.
Who does the dishes?  We seem to go in streaks on this one.  Right now, me.
Who pays the bills?  He makes the $ & I spend it.  Of course, I also avoid the late fees that way.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed?  Me... closer to the baby's room.
Who mows the lawn?  We used to fight over it, but I do while he does things like build the planter boxes for the garden or fix the sprinkler system.  I did say he was the smarter one.
Who cooks dinner?  Generally, weekdays: me & weekends: him.
Who drives? Danny.  I'm night blind so it started there.
Besides you, who is his best friend?  Oooo...  well, the guy he hangs around the most right now is Dave Riddle... I don't think they've had a DTR, though.  (:
Who asked who out first?  Poor Danny.  He had to ask me 3x before I said yes.  In my defense, I was going on a mission!
Who kissed who first?  He kissed me.  No way I was going to kiss him.  Mission!
What was your first date?  Unofficial: playing tennis.  Official: the Manti pageant.  Dan's roommate Eddie tricked us into it.  He had some idea we were perfect for each other or something.  (:
Who proposed?  Danny did... the day I got back to BYU after my mission.
Who has more siblings?  Let's see, is 7 a bigger number than zero?
Who wears the pants?  I decided to get Danny's input on this one.  His reply, "Do you really have to ask?!?"  Oh, no.  I never wanted to be that kind of wife.  He tried to reassure me that every healthy marriage is that way....
Who is more stubborn?  Well, after the rest of the above-mentioned conversation, I don't need to ask.  It's me.
What is your favorite thing about him?  Danny is just perfect for me.  When I think about this question, I am reminded of something my Chinese dad , Henry Ma, said to me my last week in Taiwan.  He cautioned me that because I am a Virgo, I would need to carefully choose a husband.  The right one for me would need to be tall, handsome, intelligent, innovative & easy to get along with.   Dan sure is!  Hmmmm, so when Danny needs to have patience with me, can I just blame it on my birth sign?

I tag: Mandi, b/c she has become such a good blogger since moving to Germany!

Homecoming 2025

The tail end of summer has been so much fun.  The weather has been fantastic and we've all had special occasions to look forward to.  First up, a family party for Natalie's softball team that included pizza, whiffle ball, and seeing the girls just have a good time together as a team. Here's my favorite photo from when Michelle helped her friend, A, celebrate her 16th birthday.  Although she has been friends with A & Z since her time at the Waldorf school, Michelle ended up hanging out with a lot of strangers and had a wonderful time.  I love seeing her branch out and make new connections while maintaining her core friend group. Homecoming week included a BBQ, Powder Puff game and drone show, parade past the middle school where I was volunteering at the Rattler Run, plus a very exciting football game that even Hubby attended by being one of the basketball parents to man the concession stand. Danny did a great job tossing candy instead of throwing it and the basket...

45

I feel spoiled. My parents and our whole family around a dinner table was perfection. Hubby provided roses & a grilled steak, roasted potatoes, and fresh salad dinner complete with chocolate cake (decorated by Michelle).  My mom and dad bought me sweet and thoughtful gifts (including a mug Natalie had painted when my mom took her to Crackpots this summer) and even stayed to watch K Pop Demon Hunters in the basement. We thought it would be hilarious to watch them watch something so different from their favorite shows. They did not disappoint. It was a joyful evening that made me feel much better about turning 45 than I felt earlier in the day.  Below you’ll find what I had written before we celebrated.  Photo credit goes to Kate! 10 Years Ago I filled out interview questions for my 35th birthday and 5 years ago I did the same, adding 5 more questions.  I really don't think I should add 5 more every year because this is probably already too much information for an...

Adventures Begin

Michelle had been saving her money for years. She didn’t know exactly what for, but it turns out she used that money to travel with a group from her high school to Asia!  When people asked me at the end of the school year what I was excited for this summer, the first thing I would think of is Michelle’s trip to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam!  We loved getting texts and photos almost everyday and were able to FaceTime her a couple times.  She had quite the range of experiences from museums and treasures such as Angkor War to cooking classes and time on the water to learning how to fold flowers for offerings at famous Buddhas, and even hanging out with rats that sniff out landmines to be properly disposed of.  We are absolutely thrilled for her! While Michelle was in Asia, Hubby and Kate worked and Kate hung out with friends doing things like paddle boarding (it is great to hear her work stories!), Natalie and I watched the Women’s College World Series when we weren’...
