Disney & Knotts

The Magic Kingdom Who isn't excited to go to Disneyland?  Every time we told someone we were headed to California, they would ask us if we were going to Disneyland. I was excited for N to be there for the first time and for the rest of us to try new things and enjoy classics together. Adventureland, Frontierland, Tommorowland, New Orleans Square. And then it got hot. At this point I was very grateful our hotel, Camelot Inn, was so close to the park entrance. We had a great time cooling off in the swimming pool and had a great rest of the day.  We finally made it to Fantasyland to ride some of those must sees and eat dinner.  Pinocchio's Village Haus restaurant was D's favorite place to eat because "those little pizzas was so good!"  I'll have to keep that in mind before reserving spots at character dinning again. Lol. The new parade and fireworks shows are magnificent. It was so fun to be there during the Diamond Celebration. Disney sure does know ...

Legoland & Laguna

Last summer we had planned on visiting friends of ours that had moved to Oceanside, but before we got there, they had moved to another state.  Our children remembered those ideas of hanging out at the beach and visiting Legoland for the first time.  There were so many things they wanted to do that would all be in CA.  So months in advance (before we knew about hubby's business trip to Goddard) we started planning and reserving and paying for a long vacation to southern Cali.  This was the first time we had to buy N her own round-trip seat.  We did so after she didn't handle the drive to Utah so well at Christmas time!  Our flight was delayed because there were still severe thunderstorms and a tornado watch.  Yes, the night before we left a tornado touched down in our city.  While I finished packing upstairs, Dan put the children and the guinea pigs to sleep in the basement.  This girl from the midwest kept a close eye on my windows and...

End of School

The end of the school year was a busy, party filled, joyous time for our family this year.  When it wasn't raining, you could find us doing yard work or playing at the park.  There was so much rain the path we usually take to the school flooded and we had to bike the long way around when we picked K up.  Well, if you're already at the park, you might as well hang around for a while! How do you keep a two-year-old happy as you mulch?  Just put her in the wheelbarrow too.  How do you make a gardener sigh in exasperation?  Lay down on the flowers directly after she finishes caring for them.  Poor Meigo.  She just wanted to be near us but those rock are so uncomfortable for her 11-year-old doggie bones. D was super excited for the annual kindergarten egg drop after hearing all about K's last year.  His was completely different from hers and both eggs survived.  Look at that proud and happy smile. Weekends were also spent working...
