Kaelah's splint

After only a month & 2 days, Kaelah got to go back to the orthopedic to get her splint off. She had become quite active with her left arm the week before & you could only tell it was there by the sight of it. Getting the splint off was a bit traumatizing, so they let her wear it cut open to get more x-rays. Everything looks fantastic & she'll be seen again on Monday for (hopefully) her last visit. You can tell Daddy tries to take the emotional burden on him as well. He's such a good daddy. It didn't take long for Kaelah to adjust to her arm's freedom. Later that day she, Danny, Mommy, & Grandma went to run around while Meigo played fetch. The weather was great for the middle of March. We're so grateful Kaelah did not need surgery & handled everything a lot better than I would have expected for someone 2.5 years old. The only residual is that if you ask her about her arms, she'll point to her left arm & say, "this is my broke...

9 Months

Dear Danny J, How did you turn 9 months old already? Actually, are you sure you're only 9 months? You can do so many amazing things right now. You are growing up so fast and we're so happy to have you in our family. You've given us plenty of surprises. The past month or 2 has been no different. You've mastered the ability to climb up our little stair cases & could climb on top of Kaelah's little red table if we would let you. You have 8 teeth & love to eat whatever your big sister is eating. You refuse to eat green bean mush but devour the real thing. It's obvious whenever you've attacked a banana, which you highly enjoy doing. You use the words 'ma ma' & 'ba ba' & 'da da' regularly and have said 'up' to be picked up more than once. On March 12 you initiated playing peek-a-boo all by yourself. I was taking a bath (very rare) & you crawled over, pulled yourself up, & then would squat down. Eve...

Joy & Pain

This is a picture of our happy Kaelah on February 13. This is a picture of our sad Kaelah on February 14. On Sunday morning, about an hour before Church started, we were all downstairs when Kaelah went upstairs to get something. Meigo scratched on the sliding glass door to be let out in the backyard. Kaelah loves to let the dog in & out now-a-days, so I asked her if she wanted to let Meigo out or if I should do it. She replied that she wanted to, and began down the stairs. For some reason she tripped & fell... & kept falling. Dan & I both rushed to the stairs & he caught her before she reached the bottom, but it was too late. We sent Danny to the neighbor's & took Kaelah to the ER. After x-rays to prove it, we were told she broke her humerus directly above the elbow. Kaelah was a real trooper but ran out of patience when they put the splint on her. I kept having single tears drop out of each eye. After we got home Dan vomited all afternoon. What ...

Genghis Khan

Somehow my parents successfully avoided the camera, but they are the ones who made this day possible! On January 30th, as a birthday present to Dan & Shannon, we all went to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science to enjoy the latest traveling exhibit before it's last day here on Feb. 7th. Contrary to the picture below, Kaelah had a wonderful time! Something about a family photo makes her pout.... Oh, & enjoy Danny wearing those shoes b/c we lost one while at the Discovery Zone. Good thing they were a garage sale bargain. We took turns going to Gengkis Khan b/c it was certainly something not intended for 2-year-olds. We adults all really liked it, though! While Grandma & Grandpa went, Shannon & our young family went to the revamped health exhibit, where Kaelah loved the slide best! Meanwhile, Danny enjoyed the fancy straw things that made imprints of hands, etc. Danny used to do a great job hiding his little sister when I held him, but now we seem...

Some Explaining

Well, the time has come. We finally got the gutts to take an intentional photograph of what is soon to be a new addition to the family. Surprised? Well, if you haven't seen me in person lately, you should be! And yes, Dan & I were quite surprised too! A couple months after we brought Danny J. home from the hospital, I noticed how much more tired I was waking up in the middle of the night with him than I was when Kaelah was a newborn. I kept asking myself, is there really that big of a difference between ages 26 & 28? I didn't think anything of my period coming late b/c both Dan & I were complaining of nausea. Eventually I went to our family practice doctor & said, "I'm either pregnant or something is wrong with me that I want you to fix!" We ran the blood work & called the fertility specialist after he told me the rapid test came back VERY pink. From then we did the same thing we had done before. Held our breath & took LOTS of medi...

Happy Birthday!!!

I love this guy. He is my favorite person in the whole world. I'm so grateful David & Sandy treated us to PF Chang's for Dan's birthday & that Shannon doesn't charge for babysitting. (: The next day we had a little family get-together with the cake Shannon & Kaelah made while we were out on our double date. Once again, Kaelah loved the frosting. (: Since she had already swiped some frosting, she had a tough time waiting for us to cut the cake. Laughing... I'll save my mom the embarrassment of telling you what we're laughing about. I'm glad she took this picture b/c I got my hair chopped the other day! Daddy's happy children. We love you, birthday man!
