20th Maine

For our 20th wedding anniversary we dreamed of taking the entire family on a Mediterranean Cruise but then Covid hit and ruined lots of travel plans.  Then we dreamed of the two of us visiting Prague… until we realized how much it cost to fly to Europe in summer.  So next best thing was to find a neat place to visit in summertime for just the two of us preferably somewhere Southwest Airlines could get us to since Hubby still has an active companion pass. After some research and remembering how much my friend liked Acadia National Park, we decided to celebrate in Maine. From what we were told by several different people our timing was perfect. Apparently we arrived for the first week of nice summer weather they had.  Hooray!  Funny thing was I had packed for the forecasted chilly and rainy so there were a lot of things in my suitcase I didn’t actually wear and eventually I ended up buying two t-shirts and a knee length skirt so I could dress more appropriately. Sweet 16

After I took my middle children to both the orthodontist and the dentist and got Michelle to and from her cello lesson and tennis class, it was time to take my oldest and youngest on Kate’s birthday bash! Kate wanted to go to Disney for her 16th birthday but I had convinced her that both Hubby and I could take two cars and drive a bunch of her friends to the newly renovated Casa Bonita instead. Of course she said yes and Natalie was terrific about going with the flow and letting Kate lead the way. In fact, our flight started off with Natalie needing her inhaler because Kate was making her laugh so hard. (Then ended in tears because as we starting to descend a tooth began causing Natalie immense pain. It went away after we landed but dang, th...

Freedom

Natalie was more than happy to be done with Dyslexia Base Camp.  She adored the high schoolers that spent time with them and enjoyed her Project Launch teacher, art teacher and especially the music teacher because she would give them challenges and candy when they rose to the occasion.  But Natalie wanted to spend time with her friends and the day after Base Camp was over, she had AH, AB & ME over for HOURS -- they had such a blast in their Converse & the E family even had the girls over for pizza to make the mega long play date (until 9pm) even better.  This is what Natalie wanted summer to be and this is what freedom felt like to her.  (She also continued to be her super helpful self at the times friends weren't around to play with.  For instance, Natalie took this picture of Maisie when the three of us were pulling weeds on Saturday morning while the boys were at baseball.) Is it really close to the 4th of the July if there isn't a baseball tournament...
