Joy & Pain

This is a picture of our happy Kaelah on February 13. This is a picture of our sad Kaelah on February 14. On Sunday morning, about an hour before Church started, we were all downstairs when Kaelah went upstairs to get something. Meigo scratched on the sliding glass door to be let out in the backyard. Kaelah loves to let the dog in & out now-a-days, so I asked her if she wanted to let Meigo out or if I should do it. She replied that she wanted to, and began down the stairs. For some reason she tripped & fell... & kept falling. Dan & I both rushed to the stairs & he caught her before she reached the bottom, but it was too late. We sent Danny to the neighbor's & took Kaelah to the ER. After x-rays to prove it, we were told she broke her humerus directly above the elbow. Kaelah was a real trooper but ran out of patience when they put the splint on her. I kept having single tears drop out of each eye. After we got home Dan vomited all afternoon. What ...

Genghis Khan

Somehow my parents successfully avoided the camera, but they are the ones who made this day possible! On January 30th, as a birthday present to Dan & Shannon, we all went to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science to enjoy the latest traveling exhibit before it's last day here on Feb. 7th. Contrary to the picture below, Kaelah had a wonderful time! Something about a family photo makes her pout.... Oh, & enjoy Danny wearing those shoes b/c we lost one while at the Discovery Zone. Good thing they were a garage sale bargain. We took turns going to Gengkis Khan b/c it was certainly something not intended for 2-year-olds. We adults all really liked it, though! While Grandma & Grandpa went, Shannon & our young family went to the revamped health exhibit, where Kaelah loved the slide best! Meanwhile, Danny enjoyed the fancy straw things that made imprints of hands, etc. Danny used to do a great job hiding his little sister when I held him, but now we seem...

Some Explaining

Well, the time has come. We finally got the gutts to take an intentional photograph of what is soon to be a new addition to the family. Surprised? Well, if you haven't seen me in person lately, you should be! And yes, Dan & I were quite surprised too! A couple months after we brought Danny J. home from the hospital, I noticed how much more tired I was waking up in the middle of the night with him than I was when Kaelah was a newborn. I kept asking myself, is there really that big of a difference between ages 26 & 28? I didn't think anything of my period coming late b/c both Dan & I were complaining of nausea. Eventually I went to our family practice doctor & said, "I'm either pregnant or something is wrong with me that I want you to fix!" We ran the blood work & called the fertility specialist after he told me the rapid test came back VERY pink. From then we did the same thing we had done before. Held our breath & took LOTS of medi...
